Default Moser rear end problem, need to narrow!

I ran into a small snag and may have an easy out. I got my rear end custom made for my setup using slicks. Now that we've made the transition to 325 drag radials I've got clearance issues. I need to narrow the rear end 3/8" to possibly 1/2". When I was installing the axles I noticed a very long spline on each axle so when you get a rear end built with C-clip eliminators is it possible to cut the ends off and move them in 3/8" to 1/2". I'm running a spool so there is plenty of clearance between the axles and I *think* the spline width will work. Thanks for the look.

You can cut up to a 1" of spline off.

Why don't you take off the brakes and put the wheels back on.

It will give you a good idea of what 1/2" off the rear end will be since most brake hats are around 1/4" thick.

Don't forget there might be clearance between the axles but you also have to watch out when you shorten an axle that you have enough spline to engage the spool and also have enough spline left on the "outside" of the spool to let it slide in period.

Madman Narrowed one for me when he was in Texas. I just cut 3/4" off the axles. No problem
