Default least intrusive 6 point?

who makes a fairly unintrusive 6 point cage? id rather not have bars everywhere in a street car but it seems if i want to take it down the track they want one in there.

kenney brown used to make one for f-bodies- it is not nhra approved but would get you by tec, and there are not bars all over the place. I don't know if he is still making them.

I would go with the Wolfe 5pt. with wheel well rear mounts. It's a pretty snug fit.

I have a custom bar made out of chromoly. I cant see it in the rear view mirror at all. Not the main hoop, not the bars going back. The bars going forward are right up against the door and I do not even notice them when I drive.

The bar is totally NHRA legal as well.

I think if you have the cash for a custom bar, you can have one made to your own taste and have it hug the interior as much as posible.

wolfe 5 point with removable driver side swing outs. put the swing out when you are going ot the track. there is no bar on the passenger side.

or run without any bar since BMP has no problems letting the rest of us run 10s with only a helmut, firejacket, and a few other little things.

Wolf cage here also. With the removable door bar, you never even know it's there. The wife can get in and out while wearing a dress even with the door bar in, but it takes a little effort if you don't want to draw a crowd.lol. When she drives it to work the door bar comes out

Wolfe 6 point, swing outs are not my thing, it's not that hard to get over a door bar anyways.

thats why im looking into it. went there last week with my buddys goat and he was running 11.5 and they told him not to come back without a jacket. helmet and cage. i have a helmet and jackets no big deal and i have the ds loop etc but i really dont want a cage.

I've always run the wolfe 6pt with the low slung door bars. No problems at all. My 10pt chromoly just got delivered on Monday though

Here's a pic of their 6pt with the low slung bars

Call me silly but why not a cage? It is pretty useful if you ever actually crash the car.

John, it's funny what you about Bradenton, b/c they are back and forth like that. Most of the time tech is slack, but last time I was there it was strict and by the book!

A cage isn't the best idea for a car that still sees a lot of street time and will not be visiting the single digit zone IMHO. My Nova now has one b/c it needs it to visit the 9's.

The cage isn't anymore in the way than a roll bar, not like you use the space on top of the dash for anything, besides 1 5/8" tubing looks better than 1 3/4" and if you update later then you'll have mixed size bars and it doesn't look that good and a cage vs a roll bar is only like 25 - 30 pounds difference.

Plus the car will be a lot stiffer and have added protection. and it will be good to go a lot faster than a roll bar. Do it right once and be done with it.

I disagree on a few things here.

One, a cage is much more in the way versus a 5-point bar (depending on how the cage is bent, you have a much harder time accessing the dash, kick panels, etc etc), plus more bars around your head with a cage (front, side and back) versus the bar (back).

Two, more like 40-50 lbs. difference in mild steel on a bar versus a cage.

Three, added cost in materials and install time on cage versus bar.

Just my thoughts....

I agree with Villain, I would stick with a 6 pt or 5 pt. A lot less bars, weight and cheaper.

I have a wolf 6pt CM with swing out bars and to the wheel wells, which is not NHRA leagal BTW. I love it. I take the bars out on the street and put them in at the track!

I have pics in this section. Search wolf and you will find lots of them.

Why would the wheelwell bars not be legal?
