BEWARE of NMCA Racing!!!!
I usually don't take my problems to a public message board but I've reached my limit. On May 18th I won the NMCA EFI Eliminator class and I received my $500 check at that time. Well a week later I get that check returned to me NSF. The next day I get in touch with Dale Van Houten, the President of NMCA, he apologizes profusely and said it was a bank error. He said I could either redeposit the check or he would get me out a money order that day. I chose the money order but after 2 weeks I still did not receive it. I called Dale back and he said that he had mailed it out a few days after we talked but I should have gotten it in 2 weeks. Dale said that he would get me out another money order Next Day Air to following day. Well that's been over a week now and still NO MONEY. I tried for the last 2 days to reach anyone at the NMCA with no luck, just voice mail. I fully understand that mistakes can happen but over a over a month is ridiculous.
I had a good time at the race and was promoting the NMCA EFI racing series pretty heavily but if their checks are bad I would tell everyone to stay away. Hell Thunder Racing for a partial sponsor of the No Problem race here. I bet our sponsorship check didn't bounce.
Oh well I guess I'll be contacting the DAs office now. Sorry to rant on but I wanted to warn potential racers.

Wow....I totally agree that "**** happens" sometimes with accounting errors, and even the FedEx man loses a package once in awhile...but this sounds very fishy.
Rather the jump on the -bash the NMCA- bandwagon, I will patiently await the outcome of this. But will definitely withhold any future membership fee money till Paul gets his dough. This sucks as I was going to join for next years season, now that my car is almost done!!!
Cmon NMCA, dont let us down!

Re: BEWARE of NMCA Racing!!!!
I had plans of trying to attend 2 more races this year and most of next year but I have a bad taste in my mouth now. I WILL get my money and of course I'll post back with the details.

Paul, I'll be racing in the NMCA this weekend up here in Michigan. I'll check with some of the other racers who bring home a check and see if they had the same issues.
I would go over and post something on the NMCA board. If that doesn't get their attention and the racers attention then they are brain dead. It's bad enough that they are changing the entry fee's for the classes and the winner gets less.

If you are racing in the EFI Eliminator class talk to Todd (black 3rd. Gen Firebird) and see if he's had any problems. I know he's took home plenty of check.
I'll post over there shortly.

Good luck paul. They have always seemed like stand up people even back when it was still the NSCA (before pat and the crew retook the NMCA name).
I hope that they come through for you.

I saw in Car Craft today that Linda Massingill (Judson's wife) won an EFI 11 event recently. You might call up S.A.M. and ask for her, I believe she works there, and ask her for some experience with this. I know Judson has won a few times with NMCA also.

Hmm hope we don't have the problems with the payouts from the N vs S shootout. They were supposed to go out the week following the shootout.

Re: BEWARE of NMCA Racing!!!!
I think Tom did everything he could and really worked hard getting everything sorted out. Like he said the hold was a sponsor. Thank God he's got it all taken care of though. Thansk again Tom.

Re: BEWARE of NMCA Racing!!!!
Thanks for the heads-up about NMCA, because I plan to start attending some of their events. Maybe I should require a retainer from them up front?
But on the other hand, they do allow backhalf and 4-link cars and that's where my LS1 Camaro is headed. Too bad the shootouts don't allow such LS1/LT1 cars.

Re: BEWARE of NMCA Racing!!!!
Eventually when people can't hook and it becomes dangerous back halfs and ladder bar, maybe 4 link cars will be allowed. But for now you'll be the only one and that would be a huge disadvantage. Time is all it takes, right now people are doing fine on stock suspension setups.
