Default Good drag springs for a DD?

My car currently has Pro-kit springs and the rest of my suspension is geared toward drag. I was wondering what would be a good drag shock for a DD. I don't really want the car to be all bouncy. I guess i'll have to couple the springs with a set of QA1's. Are the QA1's (300lb.) good? I'd like to be able to lower it a bit more than a traditional jacked up high drag spring also.

What does the car weigh? 300 is good for a full weight car, 275 if you have pulled some off the nose.

Full weight. I'm working on getting it down to 3200lbs. But for now it's still around 3390.

Current susp. mods:

BMR trac bar
UMI adj. PHB
Boxed LCA's
Reloc. brackets
Pro-kit springs

Next is:

shocks/springs
SFC's
BMR drag swaybar
9" rear w/ 3.90's

IMO if you DD the car, run stock shocks. my car has gone 1.3 60' on stock fronts and the rears are the super el cheapo comp engineering 3 way (non) adjustables. every drag spring/shock rides like **** IMO. might as well keep the factory ride if all you want is 1.3-1.4 or slower 60' times.

**** i'm good with a 1.5 60' . Would it adversly affect the stock springs any, if i just cut off a coil?

How would a set of Tokico blues workout? $300 for all four. LOL. (I think my stockers are toast)

i think with a 6 speed car the QA1's are very beneficial. i am running QA1 shocks and their 300lb spring on the front and QA1 shocks in the back. The springs in the back are stock with around 1.5 coil cutoff and the hose mod. i love the ride and launches great at the track. all i have to do is adjust the shocks at the track and im good

The ride depends a lot of the shock valving and not just the spring rate.

If you run a drag rate front spring you can always turn the shocks to really firm which will help a lot.

With my drag springs and shocks set to the firmer side it rides pretty nice I think, it'll even spin the tires some on hard acceleration if it is too tight.

If it is a street strip car I would get either the 275 rate or 300 rate and when you street drive just turn the shocks 5 or so clicks tighter.

I usually drive around with mine on #4 or 5 when I go on long trips but I'll leave them on #2 for street driving all the time.

Nice info!! Maybe i will get the QA1's shocks all around and use there 300lb springs up front. Then use a stock spring out back. Thanks again fellas.

One last question for the QA1 guys....

Are you using single of double adj. shocks?

Just so you know you can send in the "f" series qa1's and have them tuned up and revalved to become "r" series for around 200 bucks.

that will be my setup...have all the parts sitting here just waiting for the time to install them.

looking at the heater hose mod and maybe 1/2 coil-1 coil off the rear springs.

I have QA1 "R" shocks with 275lbs springs in the front, and Comp Eng shocks in back with the stock, cut springs without the isolators. I go 1.47 60fts and daily drive it unless it is snowing. I run the QA1s all the way soft at the track, and then at 6 on the street. The car weighs 2865.
