How much mph did you run with the old gear and converter and what were they? Also what tire size did you have before and have you added more power since then?

I agree with Chris, we need more details then a mods list to help with this type of thing...

The old converter was a 2800 real tight setup for dual stage hit,and i was running a 3.42 with a 26,trappin between 120-124.Well i switched to a LS6,EWP,and powersteering delete and i will be going to 15" wheel and tire setup

I agree, with 3.73 gears and maybe only between 130 -135 MPH on that setup he is better off with the 28" tire, but if his new mods bring him up over 135 MPH trap speed though and with that loose of a converter then he may want to either step up even taller or extend the rev limiter...

I'm very interested in this also. I have a rmvb th400 with a 4500 9.5" converter. Trex cam and the car has a 4.56 gear in it, that was for when it was m6.
It has a 27x15 tire. I would like to see what you end up with.

Mine is lighter being the fox coupe.

IMHO, I'd say get 26" and 28" tires mounted on different wheels, take both to the track and see what works best. I did this earlier this year. My car went faster on the 26's. But it was a m6/4.10 geared car.

I am in the same boat with the new Shop car.

-Stock 346ci LS1
-236/240 .585/.585 114+2 Renagade lobes
-LS6 heads
-LS6 Intake
-Ported TB
-EWP
-SLP underdrive Ballancer
-Ebay LT and a custom True Dual setup
-ATI TH350 w/brake
-ATI 9" Stall (4200rpm)
-Moser 12 bolt
-All made by me custom adjustable Molly LCA's, Panhard Bar, and TQ arm

I am trying to determine weather to go with 28" tire and 4.33's or 3.73 and 26" tires. I am doing a cam only setup until I get my Turbo engine and new turbo setup built. The car is gonna be more Strip/Street than Street/Strip.

Go with a 28, traction will be a ton better.

And I would still spray the full amount with that converter/gear, if the car was runnign what it was with a converter that tight the converter and gear change should shop a good 1/2 second off it I bet, and it will probably go 5 mph faster.

My Camaro has started off with more of a nitrous focus, and has gone 10.92@122 and 10.008@133.9 back to back, that's a 150 shot. I have 28's, 4.10's, tight 8" converter, T400, big cam, shift at 6800, and was like 3350 raceweight. You will run best with 28's for that nitrous, but the 28's + 3.73's + NA will run low 11's. In an ideal world you would have two sets of rims and one set would have 28's, one would have 26's. I would have run high 10.7's with 26's and less gas in the car.

I'd get 3.73's if you're going to run a turbo later and just run 26" for now, then run a 28" with the 3.73 when you turbo it.

I'd run a 28" for sure when you spray the car. Like every one else said make passes on 26" on the motor, but if you take it to the track why not just spray it every time

I have never run them, but I hear a lot of people not hooking too good on the 17" M/T, for the 26" a lot of people run the 275 50 15.

The turbo setup will get a totaly differnt drive line.

If you are going cam only for now then I would run the 28" tire and the 4.3 gear.

3.73's with a 26 inch tall tire is 141 mph. do you think the new set up will pop you up 10 mph?
how wide a tire do you run? maybe there is something in the 27inch tall range that would work with your combo and not take away the gear advantage. going to 28's would put the car having to trap above 142 just to get back to the shift point, much less pull clean through the whole power band.
