Accessory Setup - Help Needed
Good afternoon everyone.
Here is my dilema. I have an iron 408 being built for my 63 nova project. I am stumped as to what to do with my accessories. I have tried the swap area and wanted to get some of your opinions. I want to run a mechanical water pump and low mount alternator only. What are my options for setting this up?
I am confused as to what is needed for a tensioner, belt routing, etc. I have the water pump, alternator bracket, alternator, and crank pulley. What else is needed? Pictures?
Would a Katech tensioner fix my problems?
HELP!

This is how I did mine now.
I AM USING A STOCK CRANK PULLEY.
Use a napa auto belt, last numbers ending in 547 (it's 54 1/4" long)
Autozone tensioner 6 ribbed 70mm pulley part number 231015.
Place the 6 ribbed pulley where the alternator pulley used to be and place a 1/8th" washer behind it, lines up perfect.
Grind the alternator mounting bolts slightly, took about 1/4" off each bolt where the belt runs under/over it.
That's it, ran my motor at high rpm several times and worked perfect.
The belt lines up perfect, nothing rubs, the belt doesn't toss and that length belt is perfect, the tensioner marks line up the same as the factory belt, dead center on the second mark.

Can you possibly explain the belt routing for the water pump? Will the angle of the belt be so that it contacts the underside of the water pump drive pulley?
I think that is where I am most confused. What will turn the water pump?
