Street tyres what PSi ?
Hi Guys, only done one run what ya brung day last year, i managed 12.3/120mph. Traction was the problem off the line, since then i have installed Dart heads, Close ratio gearbox and taller diff as 1st was just too low with the LS transplant motor. I have also ported my LS2 inlet and am awaiting delivery of my Custom grind cam. So a significant power increase should be on the cards. I am running street trackday tyres ( Pirelli Corsas.) i dont want to run Drag tyres, as it is a street car first and foremost. What tyre pressures do you think i should be running? Would like to be in 11's though!

street tires will work best at close to stock as you can and only a little, quick to clean the rocks off the tires burnout. your not gonna get great traction cause there STREET tires dont expect much

Just go with the Nitto drag radials they are fine on the street and will last about 12k miles if your nice to them. They will give you that extra bite on the street and the strip. If you must run the street tires try 28lbs with a 2 second burn out if that.

I enjoyed the BFG g-force d/r they hook alot better at the track then the nittos.. Nittos will get you more street miles but will not hook as good as bfgs
I would do a little more then a 2 sec burnout more like a 4 to 5 sec with the nittos and 3 to 4 sec with the bfgs>>
28 lbs on the street and 16/15 lbs at the track
Good luck!!

You don't want to run a stock non-drag radial too low as it can cup and actually lose contact patch with the surface. I ran my stock Goodyears at 25-27 psi on my mostly stock Formula and they went a 2.00 60 foot time. Drag radials can be a bit lower, but if you choose to keep a stock tire I'd keep the pressure drop to a minimum and do a short burnout (I just hammer the gas without holding the brake) to clean off any water or debris before staging.

Take it some place and do a little burn out and roll forward then get out and look at the marks if it is light in the center add air, if it if the center is darker remove air, try to run a psi that gives you a nice even dark burnout.
It's the easiest way I've found to make sure you have a nice even contact patch for a street tire.
Then when you go to the track you have your starting point and can try going down and see if you speed up, if not try going up a bit, then keep whatever psi gives you the best results.
