nhra I know you need a 5 pt minimum rollbar for 11.49 to 10.0, once you go 135 or faser it requires a full 10 pt with chassis cert regardless of et. Window net, fire suit, battery shutoff, all that required at 135 or faster mph. 150 rwequires a parachute, again regardless of et. I think 200 mph is 2 parachutes, 25.2 chassis cert, etc.etc but for a car to be even going 150 it better be in the low 9's at a minimum.

JL's response is correct based on the current NHRA rulebook for cage and roll bar requirements, but that is for hardtop and t-top cars only. Convertibles require a roll bar at 13.49 and faster, a cage at 10.99 and faster.

single layer or multi layer suit, pants/shoes/jacket? I wasn't sure on the mph rule but i thought it is 10.0-11.49 just a single layer fire jacket was required.
what if the battery is still located up front?
I need to pick up a rule book copy.

3.2A/1 for 10.00-11.49
3.2A/5 for 9.99 or faster (or if mph is greater than 135)
cutoff:
if battery is in the back (regardless of ET), cutoff required.
If 9.99 or faster (or mph is greater than 135), cutoff required regardless of where battery is

If any of them has, then at 10.99 and faster you'll need an 8-point rollcage minimum.

Those suits are damn expensive, I forget what mine was but it hurt the funds. Hot as hell too, almost worth going slow to just wear a single layer jacket... Almost.
We got 3 cars certified last Saturday, he only checked 2 welds and the thickness of one bar... Thought that was underdone but it may have been because all three were already certified at one point.

I'm guessing that was to certify it for the first time? I'm assuming since they were certified (actually didn't run out till next month) that they just assume everything is the same and he's done my dads car 3 times now so I guess I understand it. Struck me a little odd though, I guess they just wear them out the first time you get them done.

for everyone freaking about running 11.49 and faster, chances are youre car is still street driven and you just run that time or faster at a friday night TNT type deal. and chances are the track is not going to sweat you. some tracks are more strict then others. it just depends on where you go. people who go out and race in ihra, nhra, and nmra events are required to have the cages.
