Default T-Top Race Car?

Okay i have seen someone on here 25.5 a T Top car.. Is this going to be a problem ? I have a nice Ttop car around my way that is for sale cheap and i want to do a 25.5 with a BBC + Procharger do you think they will become a problem? other than they weigh more?

Sometimes the t-tops pop off but you can adjust them.

T-top cars really dont weigh all that much more, I would guess maybe 20lbs if that over a hardtop car.

If you 25.5 it I dont see any issue at all, mine is a t-top and getting a 25.5 cage. The hardtop cars are just a fiberglass roof panel over your head anyhow, main place they are stronger is its all welded together on the top of the door glass as opposed to the removable t-top.

They make k-members with motor plates or motor mounts made to put in a BBC, it's been done a few times

When you order the k-member tell them you want to run a motor plate or that you'll want BBC motor mounts, personally motor plate would be the way to go.

Either way let them know you're going BBC and they'll set you up.

Here's the actual structure on a hardtop car. As you can see, the roof structure is the same for both hardtop and t-top cars with exception to the metal brackets on the outer edges on the hardtop cars.

why would there be a problem?

My t-top 25.5 setup cert'ed just fine...being a t-top make it quite a bit easier to fabricate too since you could easily get to the top of the funnycar cage and the roof diagonal

You can convert a t top car to a hardtop car if you really wanted to, GM sells the outer metal that's above the doors as a piece if you want, and the roof and headliner are also available. If you're gonna 25.5 the car, you've got the $ to convert it if you'd like to.

But is it needed? I don't think so, probably more a personal preferance then anything.

A fiberglass replacment piece for the glass itself? I'd guess a few people would, how many I dunno. I guess the weight savings, cost, and how they would look painted to the color of the car (I am guessing that is what most people would do) would look.

Make a set, get them painted to match your car and take pic's, if they look like a factory piece and seal/fit good, and the cost isn't too bad I bet you can sell a bunch.

You will be fine with a 25.5 and T Tops. Biggest issue is that everytime I have my tops out EVERYONE pulls on the top bars like they are superglued in. WTF, can't figure that out.

As for the BBC and K Member. Our K Member will work and I happen to have a set of BBC motorplates for sale. Let me know.

The sad but true column.

We had the car at Drag Expo. 5000 people had to tug on the bars. Next year I want to fab a break away bar and see what happens. "You broke it, You bought it"
