If its a traditional small block, any lt1 header will work. I would personally go with the hooker longtube, i now have a set of dynatechs on my 434 but they dont have the clearance like the hookers to change the spark plugs...

Headman Hustler series is the way to go. I have a set of the 1 7/8's on my SBC 4th gen. These are some very good headers. You will not be dissapointed.

Edit: Found them on the site.

What was clearance like for plug access? I also heard the heater box has to come out. Is that true?

Thanks,

Steve.

the left side fit great the driver side i had problems with. I had the stock rack and steering shaft in mine and it was touching the header so i had to put a little ding in the # 1 tube but headman told me the header was set up for a aftermarket steering rack and shaft and the #3 and 5 spark plug i had to grind the top of the plug some to get room between the plug wire and the header and to change them 2 plug i had to loosen my header to get them to plugs out thats the only problems i had i

My Hookers fit well. The Headmans are good also. You can also go with Kooks

Thanks guys. I've had Hooker LTs in the past and I like them a lot. I was just thinking I need something more w/ what I'm planning and wanted to explore possible options. Anyone have any experience w/ Dynatech headers on an LT1?

I have the Hedman 1 7/8 on my car, they SUCK. I change all the passenger side plugs from the bottom because I still have the heater box in the car, and this is the EASY side.

The drivers side 5&7 plugs will make you CUSS like a sailor!

David,

Thanks for the info. That combined w/ what LS What said, I think I'll pass on the Hedmans. I know I'm not loosening headers to change plugs.

Later,

Steve.

I have never had to loosen the header...BUT I do have the short socket and gearwrench to change plugs. If I was smaller it would be easier.

The hardest part is getting the plug started in the hole blind.

The passenger side would be MUCH MUCH easier with the evap box out.

If it was a high HP power adder car I would definately put the 1 7/8 on, the brain damage is worth the power you get.

i had the a/c box out of mine it was easy to change plugs on that side. the headmans are not design very good for the plugs but for 500 dollars for big tube headers not bad compare to 1200 to 1500 for having someone to make them

Normally I'd agree w/ you, but the price is up to $700 through Summit. For the extra money I think I'll pay for the convenience to be able to actually change the plugs.
