Default Questions on k-frames / madman rack

I just bought a aje k-frame. I got it setup for a stock steering rack because right now I don't have the money for a manual setup. So when I get madmans rack what am I gonna have to do to get it to work, or will it simply boltup?

I think Madmans K member bolts in, plus a weld or two but, you do not need a K for a manual rack... I think

What i'm trying to at is, since I didn't buy a k-frame setup for madmans rack whats gonna have to happen to install his rack later down the road? Is it still doable or am I gonna have to go another route? I would think it should work but just trying to make sure. Maybe madman will chime in and set things straight.

Madman isnt the only one that makes the Pinto racks. Spohn just came out with a setup that is exactly what you are looking for.

Im in the same situation you are. I have heard tha with the Madman rack you can not run larger rims and tires, only skinnys up front. Im not sure if this is the case with the Spohn rack. I dont want to limit myself to only being able to run skinnys on the front.

Thanks. You bring up something that I overlooked about running skinnies and fatties. I have both but typically run skinnies 95% of the time expect on trips to the beach.

Check the thunder racing site. I think Madmans rack is set up so that it will go into a stock K. You should be fine...

Madmans rack works perfect with a AJE K-member. I have the same setup.

The mad man rack does require a little welding but you can use it in place of the stock rack. He has two part numbers by the way. A stock rack replacement and a pinto rack style mount.

Let me make this a little more clear for you.. You bought a Kmember that is set up for a "POWER" rack setup. Later on you want to swap to a "MANUAL" rack setup. Madman's "MANUAL" rack is what they call a Pinto manual rack and his steering kit is made for EXACTLY what you are wanting to do. It has the brackets already welded onto the manual rack so that it will bolt up in place of a POWER rack. So yes, whenever you get the money you can buy his kit and it will bolt right place on your "power rack kmember"..

Or you can buy a new kmember that is already setup for a Pinto Manual Rack and still spend about the same money on a manual rack and all the hardware you will need..

But, just to be sure why don't you send Madman a PM and ask him.. He will answer you back quickly I'm sure. I know his kit will work on the BMR and PA Racing Kmembers so it should work on the AJE as well.

The Spohn rack is my rack kit.

To answer the question about the AJE K-member, yes I have a kit to go right on that k-member. You will have to weld one small bracket as a safety strap other wise it will bolt right on.

I have a quick question on this, does it matter what material K-member you have, or the type of weld for this safety strap? I am planning on getting a CM K-member and wasn't sure if you had to specify CM or MS for the strap, that and I only have a Mig welder so it won't be the best thing for welding to CM let alone dissimalar metals. Just figured I would ask since this is the only thing holding me back from ordering stuff since I don't know if I have what it takes to install it and if not, that means more money and more downtime...

Thanks...

The small tab(2" long) is mild steel as most of the k-members out there are mild steel. If you have a chromemoly k-member I highly recommend TIG welding the tab.
