Default Crotch strap bracket comparison Wolfe and Madman/Thunder

I will post a comparison of pics tonight when I get home. I wont go into the customer service aspect that I received from Thunder Racing, it would be better off left in the sponsor feedback section. When I received my Thunder crotch strap bracket it was obvious that it didnt fit. The bracket was crooked and the holes didnt line up with the seat bolts. I had to do some grinding of the holes for it to fit. When I installed it the seat wouldnt go all the way forward. I got my Wolfe one today and it looks much better. I will test fit and post a review later on after I get a coat of paint on it. Thanks Wolfe for a nice product!

Why not just get a drill out and drill a hole and put in an eye bolt for next to nothing?

The Wolfe bar fits great. the bar is a bit bigger and has better welds. My seats clears no problem. I sprayed them, they do not come painted.
Top is the Thunder bracket, bottom is the Wolfe

very nice welds on the Wolfe

They are the same price of $35. Wolfe gets my vote

well good for you. this is what I wanted for MY car. congrats on your seats. This was just a comparison thread for people to compare two bar options. not for you to tell me what's better in your opinion. thanks though

and Madman, thanks for the PM. I will consider.

That top bar is ugly.
Looks like I welded it.

well, the hole is out-of-round because of my grinding, and the paint is pressed where I bolted against it, it does make it look a little worse

I was just offering another option. I didn't know if you knew you could just use an eye bolt. I didn't say anything was better than anything else. I meant to say if you ever go to a drag seat of some sort like the Kirkey, your custom brackets may not allow you to use the bars. The wolfe is definately a nice piece.

That piece that you got from thunder, I don'[t believe for a minute that is something that madman built. Maybe a piece that someone at thunder duplicated that madman made when he was there, but not an actual part he made. That thing looks like, well **** to be honest.

Wolfe piece looks like it was welded by someone with a clue, made in an actual jig, not just some stuff laying on a bench that was hacked together.

Madman's quality, is very good. That top part can not be his work.

i agree with you on madman's quality. he sent me a PM and clarified that this was something that he did not do. When I saw how this looked I knew it wasnt something he did. The crotch bracket was backordered and each time I talked to someone (Angie first, then someone else second) they said that the jig for the water jetter was stolen or something and that "madman" was waiting on the new waterjetter. I'm guessing the "Madman" was a vague term.

I am not sure those are legal for me to use? So I wound up connecting my six point is through the floor with Bolts and big washers.

MADMAN Was always there or called me back and I am glad I can call his shop now

I got the Wolfe. Nice piece, but it is heavy for what it is.

One is tig welded, the other is mig welded, one is set up in a jig and the other looks like cut pieces of angle iron with a hole drilled in it.

Madman didn't make that

Madman did not make that. We do a lot of work with them and this is not something he would let out the door.
