Default 28 x 11.50 ET Streets - Pictures!

I figured I would throw these pictures online, since people (like myself) are always asking if this tire combo will work

I have a Currie 9" rear end, QA1 single adjustable shocks and I'm using the stock rear springs. As you can see the ONLY thing I am going to do is pull back the rear fender with a zip tie. The bump stop doesn't need modifications and the inner fender is over 1" away from the side of the tire.

I'm happy

a little tight!

Unless it is just the picture, you need adjustable lower control arms to pull the tires forward and center them in the wheel well.

Looks good, remove the bumpstop.

they are going to rub at higher mph from tire growth.

I made my lower control arms, I guess they need to be shortened a little bit since it looks like I need to move the axle forward a bit.

I can't imagine the tire is going to grow more than 1/2". so that's only 1/4" in each direction

so I need to adjust my axle forward, maybe an inch or so

that would put me over 1 inch away from the rear bumper. That should be PLENTY, right? I mean these aren't slicks.

Inner fender seems to have almost 2" of space, and the side walls should shrink if anything

My bump stop is actually inside of the rim, so there shouldn't be any problems with that....unless my wheel somehow shrinks lol

I am so pumped with the look btw!

how much the tire grows will depend on what mph you are going. i was trapping at 145 and my m/t's were growing alot. i had the rear bumper cover trimmed about an inch and centered the tire and still had rubbing issues til i trimmed it another inch. i was on an 8" wide rim though. if you have a wider rim it will not grow as much.

Those will beat all over the bumper cover at speed. You need about 3/4 of an inch all the way around the tire, front and back.

And take the bump stop off, at least unbolt it. That thign will cause you more headaches if you leave it you don't even want to know. I was at stock ride height, and the car would hit the bump stop on launch and disturb the **** out of it, causing it to blow the tires off 40 feet out. Take the stop off, no more problems. Take them off.

I have 28x11.5 slicks on my car now, with the tire centered it does not rub anywhere.

Keep in mind changing ride height changes tire position in the wheel well.

Adjust it until you have equal space on the front and rear of the tire, then put the car on 4 jack stands and have a buddy watch the tire, then put it in gear and let the tire spin until you get a little over the mph you plan to run, it'll cause the tire to grow and you'll see how much room you have without having to test it at 130 mph

I'd rather rub the tire at 0mph than on a track about to break the sound barrier

^^^ Hurm that sounds a little dangerous LOL

But I'm going to be doing shake down passes, slowly getting faster. So I should be able to catch any possible problems?

I have a question however. I have my LCA's set to the same distance as the factory ones. (shown in the pictures above) I'm afraid that if I center the tire, my driveshaft will be forced into the trans too far, not leaving room for it to load/unload etc

thoughts?

Any comments about shortening the LCA's too much, resulting in driveshaft/transmission issues?

I'm going to have them cut down today.

its typicall for the 9" not to center up in the wheel well so do not the fault the LCA's being built wrong, i wouldnt think that it would shove the yoke too far in, you usually have plenty of extra yoke to play with, just verify afterward but i think it will be fine.

I built the LCA's myself. So I can machine them down no problem. I just don't know how much play I have in the yoke to take up.

If you have to trim the input on the driveshaft a touch, that's not that big a deal.

Why not just get some adjustable control arms, save yourself alot of work?
