CSR shield. The blanket will hold in heat. This is a big deal on the street. At the track it will take longer between runs for the trans to cool. Also a blanket does not cover the bellhousing.

I have installed them in car. Blankets are easy in car.
I have a CSR for my 4L60E. Nice setup but they do not make them for the LS1 4L60E.
TH350 is smaller and gives more room. The CSR also covers the bell(stock) as Steve said. You do need to take the trans out to install the CSR
We have been running blankets on 4L60Es fora few years with no ill effects or heat issues what so ever. They seem to be the exception and not the norm. With Power Glides they seem to be really tempermental with blankets and trans brakes sticking. TH400s and TH350s seem to be hit and miss depending on which trans brake you use. Aluminim Valve Body's seem much more suseptable to heat soak then modified stock cast units.
A blanket is always better then nothing. Ask Taner Some times I feel more comfortable with a blanket then a shield. Some times I have ran a shield with a blanket rivited to the floor
All the advise given here is good.

The TCI TH400 shield wont fit in one of these unless you move the brake/fuel lines and do some beating. Not sure on the 350. And if anyone wants to try I have a brand new blue TCI TH400 shield I'll sell for 1/2 of jegs/summit shipped just to get it out of here
I just use a blanket and a JW bellhousing, blankets suck for street driving though. Hard to keep them from hanging down..

I feel your pain with the blanket hanging down, i thought it was just me having issues with that.

That what im going to do since i already have the JW bell and blanket, but im going to only run the blanket at big events when i know the tech will check for it. I'm not to worried about runninga blanket/shield since i got a billet drum put in this year.

I use an aluminum direct drum so the chance of a TH400 explosion is pretty small but I still run the blanket, I've had a direct drum explode years ago and that blanket held everything in.

I was pretty sure the trans would have to come down. With you having a A3 unless you just want to take the trans out and cut the bellhousing off and install a JW bell and then install the blanket the CSR shield would be the best option.
All I can say is I install it when I put the trans in and have never had to worry about it at all, no hanging down, no adjustments period!
