Default got my 1/4 times not happy

well i just got home from island dragway an i'm not to happy ,anyway w/ bald street tires spinning like crazy i ran a 13.5 @109.5 mph and my 60 ft was a wonderful 2.455.then i let my rear tires down to 24 psi and put my friends 150 lbs speaker box & amps in my back seat and tried again this time i launched harder to a 2.265 60 ft and a 13.55 @108.75 . Car was driven to the track then fight on to race 3/4 fuel and no weight reduction {jack spare } also car is pulling false knock codes from about 2000-redline not sure how much that is hurting me.So with traction what and knock codes fix whatca think i'll run? also how's my mph with such a crappy 60 ft? thanks P.S when we took the speaker box out of my buddy's grand am gt he went from 16.3 to 15.9

Get a good enough 60ft, and you could go 12.2@110-112mph.

People are going 11.9 with only 114mph, so a 110-112mph should get you low 12s.

Now just get some good tires and do some weight reduction.

yea...traction issues are a bitch. My best time was a 13.06 @112 on street tires. Next time I'll have the E/T streets and skinnies...plus the headers and cam package im having installed next week.

I'm surprised at the lack of power your car is making (seen through your mph). You should be trapping much higher with your mods. What was the DA? BTW, a 1.8x 60' puts you around a 12.5.

i wasn't to upset with my mph because im spining through 2nd gear.I saw alot of cars running 12.0's at 107 mph so i think with a good launch my mph will also increase as well{I hope} BTW temp was 90 they didn't have humity on the slips but you could tell it was high and absolute barometer was 30.69 not sure what that means to the times though.

hang in there.. launching a M6 with any power is a PITA

this will probably make you sick, but my A4 with 17x9's all around on dunlop street tires cut a 1.74 and went 12.01@113 cam only. I cut a few 1.8's before I got the hang of the car and those were 12.2-4's

get some tires for your car!

98T/Aauto nice 60ft & 1/4 with stock tires. when you ran those times did you do any weight reduction? and what kind of tires are you running now? I don't know how much weather was effecting the car but i saw new vette's running high 13's-low 14's at around 102 mph and they were hooking up real nice even on street tires.

I had the seats out like I usually do, but the sway bar and etc was still on the car

But here are some of my tire comparsion passes:

Stock internal on nittos: 1.58 and a 11.95 @ 112 Perfect track prep!

Cam only:
street tires- 1.74 and a 12.01 @ 113-114 leaving around 1800 and rollin into the gas. Weather was pretty good
nittos- 1.64 and a 11.7 @ 114 in the heat rollin into the throttle a little sooner. My nittos were wore down a little so I couldnt get a decent launch like I did stock internal.
ET streets: 1.55-56 and a 11.50 @ 117 in good air with slight roll then WOT to go easy on rear.

I usually have my seats out everytime at the track cause it only takes 5mins to yank them out.

Streetstalker went 11.98-99 cam only on street tires also I was chasing his street tire ET that day but ill let him have it HAHAHAHAH

but bottom line was nittos hook very well on a well prepped track. But it takes a few passes to figure out the track. ET streets hook all the time usually Once drag radials start spinnin its pretty much over. But et streets are still hookin even if they are spinnin(guess that makes sense) But I usually find that slight border line between rollin out and WOT. You cant roll to far out but you cant WOT to soon. In a M6 its a whole other level to launchin.

ive seen weather throw cars off up to 4-5mph! Thats why i dont race in this crappy weather anymore

hope this helps a little...

98T/Aauto, thanks for the info also what size nittos were you running? And what kinda weather do you race in? Again those are some nice #'s hopefully with an ls6 or lsx intake and my knock sensors replaced with some traction i'll be seeing you in the 11's

You are runnin almost 110 - MPH says you have a 12 second car - get tires. I took my SS last year and I'm not going back until I get somne tires. Ran a 13.2 @ 104 bone stock, but had NO traction ALL through second. Get tires!!
