Default Light battery up front or regular battery in back??

Just curious what everyone prefers. I seem to see way more full size batteries in the back compared to smaller hawker type batteries up front. 25lbs is alot of weight to save by just swapping batteries.

Your home already... That was quick...

Anyway, you will have a lot of added weight with relocating the battery to the back with all the extra heavy cable

I've got a Hawker battery, seems like it reduced weight right at 20 lbs. Running cables to the back of the car sounds like to much trouble and eats up some of the lightweight battery savings. I also just tie-wrapped (black ones) the battery to the coolant reservoir and it looks fine that way, it also does'nt move at all!

I think this is the way to go, and it's quickly reversed if you want! Good Luck!

Brad, if you decide to install an electric water pump later down the road and run your fans and pump between rounds to cool the engine, I don't think a lightweight battery will keep a charge very long. I have an Interstate battery in the rear with all the extra cable that goes with it.

Yeah I think the fans/water pump running and cooling the motor may be better then the 20lbs savings. hmmmm

I went from a Hawker up front to an Optima in the rear. I have no regrets whatsoever. I can leave the fans/laptop/radio on as long as I care to and have no cranking problems afterwards. With the Hawker I would have to charge it everytime I wanted to go for a ride when the car hadn't been started for a while. The 40 lbs over the rear tires helps more than it hurts in my case. You have 20 lbs less over the front wheels then a Hawker/Dynabat setup also. It cleans up the engine compartment nicely also, especially with a nice chrome catch can.
