Default Retuned by Nick Williams

video added http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPGV6oWRX38

Friday I made the 7 hour drive to Mooresville (aka stock car capitol of the world) for some work at Nick's shop and tuning.

Nick drove the car for a couple hours to "street tune" it.

Saturday was off to the dyno, where we found the rear belt on the 122 was slipping. Removed the maggie and tightened the rear belt, also added a Katech belt tensioner and many belt swaps then back to the dyno.

My hats off to Nick and his team of Bob and Zach. GREAT guys !! These guys are very detailed. Put the extra hours in needed to correct some problems and make it right.

Also a "special thanks" goes out to Thomas aka gto on 20s and Travis aka T-bones, for all there help.

Not bad. Strong overall numbers, for sure. Traction must be fun with that kind of power.

Very nice numbers, but Katech recommends not to use a belt tensioner on supercharged motors, the following is from their site:

Katech Inc. has been involved with the C5-R race program since 1997. One of the first things that was noticed was there seemed to be a bad spot in the rpm range where the serpentine accessory belt would want to jump off of the pulley. This is the origin of our solid adjustable belt tensioner. After installing this tensioner on the race engine, the belt problem disappeared. Even though this problem was found on the race engines, it is also the same case with the standard LSx engines.

These belt tensioners are a must for anyone doing any sort of performance driving with a Gen 3 / 4 powered car or truck. Without it, the belt can be thrown by the stock tensioner. This is not something you want to happen when you are going down the strip or racing around the road course.
*Not recommend for use on supercharged engines unless the supercharger has a dedicated drive.

FAQ:
Why can't I use this on a supercharger belt? Watch this video and keep an eye on the tensioner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4l642TnA2c

It was at 574 but had way too much timing. Now the car starts nice and easy, and drives great. Actually feels much much stronger! There is another posting on here of my previous dyno sheet.

thanks for the info. There were several other cars at the shop with maggies, all using the Katech belt tensioner. We were unable to keep the snout belt from slipping until we used the Katech. After seating the belt and re-adjusting I drove home. And the drive there took 7.25 hours and the drive home only took 5.5 and the belt held fine!

Damn, I bet it feels stronger now! 50 rwhp up top is nothing to sneeze at, and they said you picked up even more down low. Very nice!

It's good to hear that they done a good job for you, A few locals have gone there and were very disappointed.

Nice numbers man, I'll bet it's a blast to drive!
