Default Disappointing dyno results

A local diesel shop had a dyno day today so i strapped the t/a down.it only put down 256hp and 325tq.i am pleased with the torque numbers but i do not see why the hp numbers are so low.a/f stayed right around 13 through the whole run.it was on a dyno dynamics dyno.somebody said something about it being set up for diesels.could the dyno have anything to do with the low numbers or is my car just weak.

Yes the Dyno Dynamic's read low compared to other dyno's. They are great for tuning.

Agree with all the above posts. Dyno Dynamics will without question read lower than a Dynojet. It's just a dyno number as stated bring it to the track the timeslip is the ONLY peice of paper I put any stock in. Look at my numbers below my car is light but the fact I make 405 HP on a Dynojet kinda puts everything stated above into perspective.

I don think the guy had the dyno calibrated right or something. This guy has an auto on the same kind of dyno and made almost 50rwhp more.. https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...look-okay.html Somebody doesnt know what they're doing. IMO

one thing i have learned in the past year: Dyno numbers dont mean ****. I have a cam only car that puts down 325hp (big stall, th350 , slicks,12 bolt) on our mustang dyno but it runs 10.76. Take it to the track and see if your satisfied. Mph is more of a measurement if your down on power because numbers vary dyno to dyno

1999ssls1....Do you know a guy in chattanooga that drives a red 04 gto with factory black powdercoated wheels and tags that say slogoat?he was down here at the dyno day yesterday and about 15 minutes after he got off the dyno he destroyed that car.hit a tree and broke it in half.im suprised him and his passenger lived.

And also how low do the dyno dynamics ususally read?if my car was on a dynojet would it have broke the 300 mark?thats what i was really hoping for and my heart sank when i saw 256.i did like that torque though.the guy running the dyno said it felt very solid.and hes seen it run on the street and said he was impressed for a basically stock car.

Definitely take it to the track and see what it traps(much better indicator). Dyno Dynamics are strange, seems like some read even lower than others. Had a friend who used to work at an import shop(good tuner) and they had a Dynamics, he was saying out of the box they aren't calibrated so they'll read even lower than a properly calibrated dynamics.

Let me give you an example. I used to have a 02 GT, it was a 5 speed with O/R H pipe, gears, DRs and nitrous. When they first got it(not 'calibrated') my car made 297 whp with a 100 shot. On a typical dynojet that's usually around 340 whp for those mods. I ran a 7.9(this is stock everything else I didn't state).

Then they 'calibrated' it and I went on there with a 125 shot, made 343 whp(ran 7.7s 1/8th). Same mods net around 365 on a dynojet. That should give you an idea. Even for a Dynamics your numbers are a tad low IMO but nothing to worry about. The track gives you real power numbers.
