Default Low dyno numbers??? Am i wrong?

I put my car on the dyno to tune it. long story short. 315hp 316tq. with tune!? wtf? whats the deal i was expecting more than that. i watched my buddys stock 01 T/A put down 307 at the wheels! although his was an m6 and mine is an a4 would there be that much dif? im reading where cam only cars with simalar bolt ons are making 350-380? my car runs strong im not let down just wondering if there is more and i just cant figure out what im doing wrong here?

mods.

k&n filter
slp lid
no screen maf
p&p tb
rebuilt stock ls1 heads(milled .012)
melling hp/hv oil pump
vinci cam. 278/286 @551
ebay lts, custom Y, flomaster
tuned by GM engineer with hp tuners

i realize im short an intake and tb but should i be making more power or am i where i should be? just wanting some input before i tear it down this winter.
thanks. chad

any ideas????

I generally don't think much of dyno numbers until I see MPH to back them up in the 1/4. What happened at the track? Maybe needs a little tuning.

Kill the flowmaster. I gained +70rwhp and +80rwtrq with a bypass of the slowmaster exhaust.

Do a compression check on your rebuilt motor.

yeah dont let the dyno numbers fool you. I dyno'd at 383rwhp and thought i should have a little more but still trapped 119mph in the 1/4. Runs like a wild ape if you ask me! lol

What kind of dyno was it also?

The flomaster is the problem. Put a cut out on it or put a different muffler and your power will be where it should be.

flowmaster is bad, get a cutout and see what happens.

!!!!!!!!

That is NOT what a stock ls1 can do.. Especially not an auto..

You have a good mph, get a set of tires to bring that sixty down and you will be in mid 12s easy.. Add a cutout while you are at it, 30 bucks won't hurt.

You are reading into dyno numbers way too much..

MikeG.

i never said i had a rebuilt motor? it has the stock 170k mile bottom end in it so id rather not. good eye on the rebuild i didnt do though.

Hanns249.

valve springs what your wanting? and 70hp and 80tq? those real numbers just killing the flow?

tnmotown.

is a dyno jet dyno.

ill be cutting it off tonight. it did feel faster when i didnt have that muffler on there but ill strap it back down after i cut it off. it was just so damn loud when it was just straights. i guess id rather just have some better numbers but then again now with my dr's and 4.10s i could probly cut some better times.

Whoops...sorry, rebuilt heads. Well my compression check recommendation is even more worthwhile if you have a 170k mile bottom end...

My BONE STOCK down to paper air filter ran 13.1 at 108 with a 2.1 60'. Only ran down the track twice while stock two weeks after I bought it, Im sure with more practice it would have ran 12.8x.

There are alot of variables.

The inlet system? Was the TB 100% open?Air filter clean?Stock intake hurts alittle.

Exhaust -says custom Y-pipe,that could be a restriction. The Flowmaster is definitely a restriction.

Was the tranny locked?

everyone is saying the flowmaster is a restriction..yeah i believe so, but not on such a mildly modified car - it has another problem.

have you done a compression test yet? have you gone through the simple things? o2s, maf, tb opening all the way..?

fwiw my wife's 99 m6 ta went 108-109 with a lid and weld in 80 series only. full weight car in central indiana, nothing special. and she was driving...the muffler is not costing him 8 mph.

You both are talking about 6 speeds... His mph for an auto shows his car has faster than a 12.9 in it. Who says he should be trapping 115mph?

I forget sometimes everyone runs in the same DA with a VERY strong car and not all setups run the same thing.
I apologize.
