Default Street Sweeper Cam-Only 426whp

Saw this car a few days ago at the shop.
2001 C5, stock 346 LS1
Street Sweeper cam package
American Racing 1 7/8" headers
New Era ported throttle body/ LS6 intake
Tuned by Mike@newera

426RwHP 387wTQ
Peak power at 6300, great for a street driver stock LS1. And hold to 6800 if you want to rev there.

Why does the torque flat line from 3300 to 4100rpm? Is it due to the higher powerband and 6300hp peak? Hp peak is nice but it has the same torque as a bolt-on LS1 to 4100rpm. This is ok if that is what the owner wanted but would not a street use car make better use of trading some of that post 6000rpm hp for an increased torque curve from 3300 to 4100rpm?

Not flaming. Asking. I am in the market for a cam upgrade and researching.

Probably like 2000ish. Call New Era Performance and ask.

Ya, I used to think about that too. But most people can drive and don't race there car at 3K rpms. It has a killer power band that works great for a stock LS1. I got beat one time buy I think it was a stock? hahaha 08+ mustang GT. It was between 2 lights on a overpass I didnt think he was gona go. But I just left like normal and he takes off. I had the clutch out at 2K so didn't go anywhere, and the next light was right there. haha.

That car is still on a lot of stock parts, doesn't have a fast intake, bigger TB or maff. No UD pulley, not sure on the catback. Its got a lot of room to grow

Does not answer the question of the lack of torque up to 4100rpm beyond what a bolt-on LS1 does. I would want more mid-range with a street use camshaft.

Ya, its not even got full bolt ons yet. Just the cam, headers, tune, ported TB. No fast setup, pulley, cutouts that stuff.

I have a super bad dyno'ing setup. 28' tall sticky race tires, dana60, 4:30 gears, steel clutch and drive shaft. 3inch catback. This cam on stock heads, but with full bolt ons.
425/393. I think the mid range is great 350tq under 3500 rpms

thats LS6intake, stock maff (ported) TB. vs fast92, 92mmTB, 85mm truck maff. BTW

No complaints. Appears that camshaft requires bolt-ons to fully realize the performance.
Every owner/driver has a different spec. There must be something out there for the person who does not want to add beyond the LS6 intake or stock 241 heads. I mean as in headers + Camshaft(valvetrain pcs) and then done.

the TQ down low is actually pretty good for a cam of that size(236/240 dur.@.050 lift) in a 346ci motor.there's always a trade off when it comes to cams.
if you want more grunt down low,the StreetSweeperHT(228/232 dur.@.050 lift)would be a better choice.
if i still had an LS1,i would go with something around a 220/224,111lsa.

My error. I thought it was the smaller 228 camshaft not the larger 236.

wow, nice #'s. i was just wondering what was the mileage on the motor when the cam and dyno run was made. was it rebuilt? had any head work of any kind?? i'm kinda bummed! the reason i was wondering, i just had a cam swap, with almost the same mods and this car made considerably more powerthan me. my specs in the sig. any reason or suggustion as to why?? ( if anybody has ideas or ?'s of my setup, please pm me so i don't hijack this thread) and by the way, my car had 44k orig. miles. great results!! i guess some have to get good #'s and some(u) have to get great #'s.!!

what's up with this? ur post says ported tb, ls6 intake, ur sig says fast 92/92 ??????????????????

also do u really believe that u picked up nearly 100 rwhp with a cam swap, what else was done? make me feel like i got a bad deal!
what is SLP 2OTL ??

the 2OTL is an SLP muffler, one of the least restrictive, quietest mufflers out there,IMO.i used one on my old Z/28.going to that from a Flowmaster knockoff i had was probably worth 15-20 hp.
just from the specs you provided,i don't like the 115lsa on that cam.i would have went with something around a 112 or even 111 lsa.
and dynos all read different.what you should be looking at is the increase from the baseline on the same dyno.that will tell you the true gains.
