ok...been ages. Countless little issues keeping the car from getting on the dyno, ugh. Finally got everything lined out good enough to get it tuned so it was off to Dynosty in lexington, ky for a tune from Hal. He is a very good tuner and is mostly known for tuning 350zs and other imports but he has done alot of HP tuners stuff as well.
98 ls1
arp rodbolts
TRex set at 108.5 ICL
Fly cut pistons
Stock 799s
patriot gold springs
manley pushrods
ls7 lifters
Fast 92/92 untouched
Hinson 1-3/4 headers 3'' outlets
Flowmaster y
3.5'' exhaust all the way back
t56
textraillia exo skel twin
shaftmasters alum ds
stock r200 rearend 4.08 gear
Car is tuned with hp tuners has 4'' intake on the car but still has stock maf in there acting as a restrictor plate. Car is tuned on SD only. Decided to go SD very near the end of the tune and was happy with the power and i didnt want Hal to have to brush up the whole tune. There are a few things i am wanting to change and i will get the car retuned at that point with no maf.
This is on a dyno dynamics dyno which is said to read 15% lower than a dyno jet(holds true in our area)
Car made 432/396
Dyno graph will come asap. Probably monday.
Car weighs 2500lbs(raceweight) + me 230lbs.
Hoping to trap 135ish on the motor.
What do you guys think? How much of a difference will taking the 78mm maf out of the 4'' intake tract will i see?
Thanks

That puts me above 490whp on a dynojet. I know dyno numbers dont mean anything so we can just wait until i get to the track.

Every dyno anyone in this section uses "reads low". There are dozens of aftermarket casting or professionally ported/milled 799/243 heads that make 450-460rwhp. There are comparatively few cars in this section who make honest 490-500rwhp NA even with high dollar top ends.
Dynos are tools which require calibration and that calibration is easily manipulated.

I think that car will roll when its all said and done but I think your setting yourself up for disappointment with the 135 trap and 490 wheel on a dynojet is doubtful my friend. Keep in mind dynojets don't always read higher than mustang/suprflows etc. Nice car BTW.

Good numbers but I would about garauntee you it wouldn't make anymore power on the dynojet 248 that I use. Dyno'd too many setups and it's hard to get a higher compression LS2 on a dynojet to make the numbers your already making. The track is what matters anyway so get it over to Clay City and see what it'll do! Remember the dyno dynamics that they have now isn't the same dyno dynamics that they have alway's had.

sweet setup, cool *** car.
i'd be looking for 130+ out of that particular car. 2 local swapped fc cars had cam only trex setups in them going 125 (both cars trapped almost identical, both t56 cars). i believe they had a raceweight of 2850ish. if the car is indeed that light, more power and less weight should put you at or above 130. those cars had stock mazda rear and gear in them, i think a better gear would do the trex much justice.
on a 150 hit one of them trapped 138 skating very bad, i believe he barely made a 10 second pass haha. good luck and badass car.

completely agree on the dyno comparo thing. As i said the track numbers will come soon.
As far as this dyno vs their old dyno, calibrated the same by the same guy with the same car. Anywho....i will update when i know more.

sorry its been so long since an update. Been driving the car everywhere and playing a ton. This car is useless on my street tires. But it is fun!
anyway, First trip to the track was a success. Didnt achieve everything i wanted to but was still a good day.
first pass off the trailor
11.05@125- 1.71 60' bumped limiter in 1st.
second pass
10.78@126 1.55 60' still wanting more off the line. Decent pass.
third pass
10.81@126 1.56 60' very similar to the 2nd pass. Tire spin off line, needed more burnout!
I am ok with the e.t. but a little disappointed with the mph. The d.a was 2800'+ so im sure good weather will help some and im sure there is a touch more left in driving the car. I know the car will 60' in the 1.40s and should easily go 10.50s. I do feel like i am going to have to do something at the end of the track. It feels like it is nosing over 100' before the 1/4. I am bumping the limiter just past the traps. It may not be nosing over idk. Im used to turbo 4 cyl cars and it is just very different. My traps in the 1/8th were 99.8 and 100.1 on the 10sec passes so picking 26ish mph is good i guess.
My current redline is 6700rpms and with the 98 block that is about where i wanna be. I could try to go to 5th a little early?? I could try to get a 27 or 28 under the car. Or i could try to find a 3.92 gear for the car. Not really sure what im going to do right now but im very happy with what it did the first time out. Definatley going to need something before i get an adder!
Several little things to change before the next time out. more air in the skinnies, 2nd gear burnout, nose piece on the car and etc.

get that air filter out of the hot engine bay - fab a heat shield or something - bringing your IATs down will help make more power that you'll see in the track after staging and letting that thing heat soak.
cool car!

i am planning on doing some sort of cold air set up this winter. I wish there was something i could do like the rx7 guys with their ram air/v mount set up. There might be something i just havent seen it on a 240.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Oh, definitely don't shift into 5th, that will never help

stock maf housing still in place. Might try to remove it and see what my afr does. As far as shifting to 5th...i had to do it in my wrx for years so it isnt really a hard shift for me to nail but going from 1:1 to a .74 ratio will probably kill it.
Also looking into getting some 27'' tires. That will be the easiest thing to change and should do the trick until i spray the car.
