Default What are headers really worth? About 40rwhp it turns out..

Well I posted up here about some disappointing results with my car..
I've now deleted that thread instead of having two on the same subject / car.

I'm sure a lot of people wonder what headers are really worth on a modded car, and since I was dumb enough to do a build-up and save headers for last, I can tell everyone exactly what headers are worth on a normal street / strip car.
My mods are simple, and common for the LS1 world
Stock LS1 block 90 000+ miles
T56
LS6 intake
EPS 226/234, .598/.601 Cam
Hooker headers
Stock 243 heads
Comp Springs
All mods before headers: 347.89HP, after headers: 387.27HP

You can check out the dyno graph below.

Yeah, that cam, especially being ground to favor the exhaust, was begging for some headers

Nice gains. Stock manifolds really hold back a cammed motor. I agree with the comment on the lid. Get a good lid and you should hit 400.

You guys really think I can gain 13hp from just a lid? I'd love to hit that magic 400rwhp number but I don't know if it's possible. My engine mods are basically done at this point, there's a 75 shot of nitrous going in ( already have the kit ) and other then that I don't have any plans.

To give you a reference I have a BBK intake, SLP lid &bellow ,TSP 228R cam, kooks 1 3/4 race headers they might be 1 7/8 not sure and a ASP underdrive pulley and got 401.72rwhp and 389tq.

So it can be done and my cam is smaller then yours.

Ive seen that cam hit over 400 rwhp on stock 241s, I dont know if the lid is holding you back but IMO numbers are low with 243s and that size cam..

No sarcasm, I just did some searching after reading the post and a lot of guys are making similar power to me with less mods. I think I have the lowest hp with this cam...

Don't worry about the dyno numbers.. go to the track and get a few consistent passes and see where the trap speed is.. then we can determine if there is an issue or if its running well
