ECS LS3 H/C Installed>>> 496RWHP/471 RWT!
Well, I had an unfortunate incident with my H/C Vette over the summer. After a nice spirited run, I began to hear the motor knocking like crazy. After pulling over I checked out the motor and found coolant in the oil. Not good! :ack:
I had the car towed to East Coast Supercharging. After a leak down test and boroscope, it was found that number 7 cylinder liner was cracked in two places and the piston was damaged. It was also later discovered that it bent an exhaust valve.
It was decided to replace it with a new LS3 complete bottom end. Matt@ECS sent my AFR 205 heads out to TEA (Total Engine Airflow) to have them open them up to a 4.06 bore, install bigger valves, new springs and hand port finish. Heads were also milled to 62cc. Since the heads were opened up nicely, I decided to upgrade the cam to the LG G5X1E. My previous cam was AFR 6016 224/228, .581 .588@114. Tommy put it all back together.
Doug performed his tuning on the road and then on the dyno. He also performed a speed density tune (no more MAF)
Final numbers were 496RWHP / 471 Torque!
I was real happy to hear their results. The car runs smooth at idle and just a very slight shimmy every now and then, just what I wanted. She drives super smooth around town and on the highway. I am still taking it easy for 500 miles for break in. I am real happy with it so far and I have to thank the guys at ECS for getting her back to me running strong!
Heres the dyno video on their Dynapak.
