Default prc ls6 stage 2.5 231/239 cam

my goal was 500 crank hp.. my set up is prc ls6 stage 2.5 heads, 231/239 .617 .623 cam,bbk intake, kooks long tubes, off road "y", gmmg exhaust, 4.10 gears, slp maf and ram air, 42lb injectors, 25% pulley, 1.7 roller rockers, egr delete, etc. car made 429rwhp 373rwtq. i was hoping for a little more but heat soak was definitely an issue with this intake! i will be switching to a fast or just an ls6 to cool it down and hopefully put up a little better numbers! needless to say i hit my goal!

Is it just me, or does the TQ seem to be low?

Hard to say without seeing the graph...could be great average torque and just not have a crazy high peak number (peak number doesn't sound way off to me).

dont think the intake is the main problem here, im sure it could be improved on, but torque is definitely low, i assume you're at stock compression? what LSA is the cam and how much advance? i assume its a 113+3 or +4... you need to run 11.x or higher compression to get that torque back

if its just a straight up LSr cam its just a 113 right? mine is ground +3

also...with those heads wouldnt compression be closer to 10.8-11:1??? assuming you have a stock thickness headgasket?

i would like to see more on this. i will post up info on my setup beings were damn near identical...soon! i just need to get time off to get it done...

You would REALLY benefit from a FAST 92/92 setup. Heads flow well and the cam wants it. I bet you would pick up an additional 20+ whp over your BBK.

its just the kooks 1 7/8 headers, on a 10 bolt. stock gaskets and standard pistons although the heads were milled .025 , the cam is a +4. the torque was pretty solid the whole way through it made over 300ft lbs at 2500 rpm's

i just dyno'd my car today, and would like to add some more information in this thread...our setups are very very close.

i dyno'd with a k&n intake and stock maf, on the dyno we swapped to a 100mm maf and ftp 104mm air lid...picked up absolutely nothing which i thought was very weird..

my setup is-
fast 92/95mm tb home porting
pat g cam 231/239 .617/.623 113+3
TSP stage 1 243's with dual springs
ebay longtubes 1 3/4, ORY, SLP LM1----loud...
LS7 lifters, trick flow 7.4 pr
katech timing chain
melling pump
K&N KIPK with stock MAF
stock T56 with monster stage 3 clutch cm flywheel
MWC 9 inch 3.89 gears
c6 z06 OEM wheels 325/30s on the rear

any other questions let me know.... numbers are in SAE smoothing is 5.

yea those numbers are close to what i'd expect if i switched to a fast. my very first run was 429rwhp.as the intake heated up the numbers dropped, even tho it was being tuned... my second run dropped to 419 then 415 then 412 and down to 409! we let the car sit for 5 min before our next run and the hp shot back up to 415! bbk is def junk and heat soak is def an issue! i would think a fast flows better plus lower temps would at the very least put me in the 440rwhp range. it def wasnt the tuner either as the car was tuned by jeremy furmato!

Where do people get that a BBK intake has "heat soak" issues?? Every car drops power on the rollers the more pulls you make, every car makes more power when you let it cool off on the rollers.....no surprises here.

There have been aluminum intakes on cars for years, there is no coolant in that intake.

My car makes 385rwhp with a stock LS6, with your cam I "should" make your power.

On the guy who swapped to a big MAF etc, did you see any change in MAP/MAF/IAT readings between the two? That is interesting.

i didnt check that...ill be tuning again here soon and will probably be running the 100mm from now on...ill watch my map readings... we had to re-scale the maf completely...after we plugged in in all the stft's shot up to 30%...got them all dead on and went with it... iat's were the same.

also---my cam is a 114+4...

im in the process of doing a direct port setup...getting bottle numbers soon!!!
