Default ZL1 Stock to LPE 630hp Package - Dyno Dynamics

I thought I'd share how a customers ZL1 did on our Dyno Dynamics. I see alot of high dynojet readings (compared to the stock baseline on my machine here) and thought to myself how am I gonna make dyno threads using these low numbers haha. So I dyno'd this one bone stock un-touched and then my installer put a few parts of the LPE 630hp package on the car which included:

- L250150309 Lingenfelter CTS-V Camaro ZL1 LSA LS9 10 bolt Supercharger Pulley Hub
- L220300709 Lingenfelter CTS-V Camaro ZL1 LSA 2.55 8 Rib 10 Bolt Pulley
- L960130709 Lingenfelter Supercharger Isolator Coupling LS9 LSA Engine
- L310065307 Lingenfelter 160 Degree Thermostat

This setup increased boost by 3psi. The cold air intake wasn't ordered with this kit so I don't know how much power was left on the table by not using the cold air intake.

There is a little background to this car. This is actually a GM test car which was featured in the first MotorTrend article against the '13 GT500 found here: MotorTrend Link. I was very curious to see if they may have had a spiced up tune in the car for testing against the GT500 as there seems to be tricks here and there sometimes but the tune when pulled and compared to another stock ZL1 was indeed the same.

The stock injectors were high on duty and running a little leaner than I'd like on the top end so I kept timing very conservative compared to stock on this car so an injector swap and some timing will probably net a few more ponies. Here are the numbers.

I'm wanting to see what a methanol kit alone will pick it up. It'll ease the injectors slightly and cool the charger and provide octane. I've had very good results from it on ZR1's.

I had good results with my AIS Kit on my Maggie GTO... But the dyno didnt show much of a gain since I was dynoing in a 45*F shop... I believe the SAE correction would have shown a BIG Increase on a warmer day while I was spraying the Meth/Water..

Thumbs up

Those are good numbers for a Dyno Dynamics (aka the heartbreaker) dyno. The injector duty cycle was at 90% when I dyno'd mine. Makes me wonder what it is when some add a "no tune" cai or pulley and say it's okay.

Does the DD report lower than a correctly calibrated Mustang?

From my experience yes it does. I know of two different mustang dynos in the area and one of them I have compared a car to within a few weeks of dynoing and there was a 19% difference. I'm assuming that particular mustang had a correction factor built into the readings to read high. The other mustang I've not compared to.

I've done a few dynojet comparisons and on average it is 10% low but I've seen as much as 15% lower. My own personal car dyno'd 13% higher at the Holley LSFest than it did on my dyno.

That adds up comparing this cars stock dyno of 458rwhp. 10% would put it close to 500rwhp which on average is what I've seen them dyno on dynojets.

Nice gain from pretty much just adding 3psi. Shows the blower isn't maxed from GM.
