'02 A4, 3.73 Z28 Does 336/352 With External Bolt-Ons After Dynotuning On Dynojet
The following is an excerpt from my driiive.com website that I just recently started to develop after Car Domain had messed up / lost my historical Z28 information.
https://driiive.com/chummierecel/200.../timeline/1484
------------------------------------
Date: Friday, March 14, 2014
Time: Around 11:50 AM
Location: The Muffler Shop Of Columbia in Columbia, SC
Mileage: Approximately 87,500 miles
Description: On Friday, March 14, 2014, at around 11:50 AM, the Z28 was dynotuned by The Muffler Shop Of Columbia. The Muffler Shop's Phillip, who owned two LS1 f-bodies, mentioned that the Z28 was originally pulling too much timing (around 30 degrees) causing the Z28 to run lean. When the timing was significantly lowered, the Z28 immediately picked up power. He also mentioned that the shift points were all over the place and caused the Z28 to hit the rev limiter at wide open throttle. Therefore, he adjusted the shift points to 5,600 RPM and the rev limiter at 6,600 RPM. The result of the dynotune was as follows:
Max Power = 335.95 Max Torque = 352.34
For your information, the Z28 has stock internals. The only horsepower modifications were the following:
- Austin Super Sucker Ram Air (SSRA) cold air induction;
- SLP airbox lid;
- LS2 Port Works' ported throttle body;
- SLP underdrive pulley
- Kooks 1 3/4 Jet Hot coated longtube headers;
- y-pipe with high flow cats;
- SLP dual dual catback exhaust
Additionally, the following work was performed:
- spark plug and spark plug wire replacement (performed before the dynotune; parts used were Denso Iridium IT16, part # 5325, spark plugs gapped at 0.040 and Granatelli Motorsports lifetime-guaranteed 0 OHM wires, part # 28-1545HTB)
------------------------------------
I can't wait to run at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, March 23, 2014, to see my quarter mile improvements.
