Default [VR] 2014 Camaro Z/28 - ARH Headers/VR Kaotik Cam - Video/Pictures/Results Here!

When the new Camaro Z/28 rolled onto the scene this year, it was obvious this was going to be a special car. With factory R compounds, functional aero and a host of other features all aimed at road course performance, Chevrolet proved once and for all that they know how to turn out incredible fast cars that can lay down some lap times straight from the showroom floor. That doesn't mean we can't improve that though!

This car came out of TN and our client was looking to make some upgrades to the performance of the 427 that could bring the lap times down even further. He will be tracking this car at NASA and SCCA events which brings this particular Z/28 right to where it feels the most comfortable - the race track. While this is going to primarily be a road course car, he is still going to use it as a weekend warrior so a couple of creature comforts such as air conditioning and radio options were added so this wouldn't be just a full out track car.

These brakes up close are just insane. This is one of the better added features of the car.

After looking at the available options and our clients initial needs, it was decided that we were going to keep the motor NA and start with a VR Kaotik cam, ARH long tube headers, non-catted X-pipe and our VR billet catch can system. This combination will increase overall power output while not sacrificing the powerband and the car would finally have the sound it deserves.

Mods Installed:
  • American Racing Headers Longtube header system w/ non-catted X-pipe
  • VR Kaotik camshaft kit
  • VR Billet catch can system
  • Custom VR ECU Calibration

After the mods were installed and we calibrated the ECU, overall power output was increased 67.83rwhp/52.15wtq! That should definitely help at the track.

We are really looking forward to getting our hands on more Z/28's in the near future including one that is receiving the new Whipple supercharger system. Stay tuned for more Z/28 builds and contact us with any questions.

I bet it's very driveable with that cam, I like the specs. I would like to the difference in power at 2000 rpm with the cam.

I like how it hangs on until around 7000 rpm.
