Default TSP 212/218 in a stock 5.3 51hp gain.

We engine dyno'd our new 212/218 .550/.550 112lsa camshaft in a stock 5.3. The motor did have headers, but other than that was completely stock. We say a gain of 51hp over a stock afm camshaft. We also dyno'd it over a stock lm7 cam and the lm7 made about 4hp less than the afm cam, keeping the gain about the same.

Wow now that's awesome!! With the low lift I'll bet it last forever.
How much more horsepower will be had if the heads was ported to like y'all 1.0 or 2.5 program?

Been keeping an eye out for a used 212 218 for my 6.0 2500hd tow truck. This makes the itch even worse

So are the gains the cam plus headers? Or did you test it stock with headers on it?

Great numbers for such a relatively mild cam.

The gains are from just the cam. The baseline was with the headers.

We have a .660 double spring on the motor, but not because it's needed. We are in the middle of testing all of our shelf cams in a stock 5.3 and it makes it easier to not have to swap springs later on. We regularly use that cam with an LS6 spring.

It should pick up another 40hp or so with the stage 2.5 5.3 heads.

No problem. We have been a little busy, but I'm hoping we can test some more this week.

Would this cam have similar results in a 98 LS1 motor? Can it be used with a stock convertor?

The "low lift" 212/218 is a really excellent grind.
Wife has one in otherwise stock 5.3 Tahoe. 5400 pounds, cast iron exhaust, stock converter, runs GREAT, she sports around, drives it like a teenager.
slaps 90 in second gear QUICK.
