Default Results of PRC 225 Heads and MS3 Cam swap

Just wanted to post my before/ after results on my heads/cam swap.
My car is a 2001 WS6 6SPD, 10 Bolt 4:11 gears 1 5/8 mid length headers Y Pipe SLP exhaust, LS6 intake, SLP lid. On this set up my car put down 353 HP / 367 TQ to the wheels on a dyno jet dyno.

I bought the PRC 225 heads 62 cc chambers and MS3 @ 113 cam from TSP. C7R timing chain, 42 lb injectors and added a cutouts in the Y pipe. Had it professionally tuned and it put down 411 HP / 374 TQ on a mustang dyno with cutouts open.

I was told that the mustang dyno reads lower, and that on a dyno jet it would probably show 20-30 more HP. My curiousity got me so I went to the same place and strapped the car back on the same dyno jet dyno I did the first time and max power was 414 HP / 380 TQ with cutouts open. All runs on dyno were with 91 octane. The conclusion is that I gained a total of 61 HP / 13 TQ from switching to the PRC 225 heads and MS3 cam.
Really surprised that I only gained 61 hp from heads cam swap. The car runs real hard above 4300 rpm all the way up to 6800. Will try and post pictures of my dyno sheets soon.

I think I made like 430/390ish with that same head/cam setup through full offroad exhaust in a c5 Z06. maybe a little higher.

Tough to say but I would guess you're really choking yourself w/ the entire exhaust system. I'm somewhat surprised you did as good as you did. If it were my car I would be looking for a good exhaust, FAST, z06 MAF, and a bigger lid. 1 7/8'' LT headers and the FAST will add significant TQ and some more HP.

I agree! I plan on adding 1 7/8 longtubes, 3in true duals, fast 102 intake/TB. I just didn't have anymore to put on this project at the time of ordering.

I bet with long tubes and ported fast 90 or 92 it would be more around 440

Sounds good man! I was hoping you wouldn't take it as me bashing or anything. Some people just see h/c as the most bang for the buck but forget the supporting mods will make or break the setup. Don't forget to post the graph. It will be interesting to see how it carries with all those restrictions.

so what, maybe $2k more bucks (or more) for 20 or 25 more HP? doesn't seem worth it to me. get a power adder instead.

That's a valid point, but keep in mind we're talking about 25+ HP and 25+ TQ across the whole band and that could mean ~3 tenths or better in the quarter. As far as power adder goes, it can get a lot more expensive than 2k especially when you add a build trans and rear end when they become necessary into the mix.

IMO
Save some coin and get a Fast 90 or 92.
Put in some 1 7/8 headers and hit the dynojet.

Seems slightly down to other similar combos, but dynos are different and you may have been on a heart breaker.

My Fast 90, AFR 205s and MS3 would carry power to 7100 rpm before falling.

On a combo like that I bet good headers and a Fast 90/102 would be worth a good chunk. I would say at least 25-30rwhp, possibly 40rwhp.

Curves look good though. Should make for a strong car.

Dyno run 5. AFR 14.7? No not claiming to be tuner. Just question.

AFR's are a little lean, try to get them pulled down to at least the 13.0 area. High 12's would be better.

Yeah this was the first thing that caught my eye. OP is that afr on that print was correct you are running stoich at wot definitely need to get that taken care of. A afr from 12.6-13.0 at wot is what most aim for is a n/a build. Congrats on your new parts

When i added 1 7/8" headers and ported FAST 92 i gained 40 rwhp. That was with kooks TDs behind it and all the trimmings in front of the intake. Lid, TB, MAF etc, gotta do it right.

more like 40+. Ported Fast is probably worth 25 and some 1 7/8 headers is probably worth another 15-20 on a setup like this that needs rpm to make power.

Just curious, what headers and intake did you have before stepping up to the 1 7/8'' and FAST?

Thanks for your comments guys! I like to hear more about similar setups and like all the information to get my setup running as good as I can. I do plan on adding 1 7/8 longtube headers and intakeT/b in the near future. I'll talk to my tuner about the numbers. Tuner did advised me that he was going to add more fuel to help when the cutouts are open to prevent damage to engine due to back pressure.
