Default '02 LS6 Cam Dyno results within' =)

My car is a 2002 A4 Camaro SS with the SLP "345 HP package". It has SLP's lid (which was shown to be a POS) and the centermount exhaust. I dyno'd it bone stock with 722 miles on it and it put down 311.8/320.8. I switched just the lid (from SLP to a direct flo) and it put down 319.9/329.4. That was 7 days ago. Since then, the only mod done was the '02 LS6 cam swap. I finished it this morning and took it over to the dyno this afternoon. Air temp was almost identical and the Barom. pressure for the stock runs were 30.32, and today they were 29.92.

It put down 352.6RWHP at 6200 RPM and was still climbing slightly (stock rev limiter), and 343.7 RWTQ at 4800 RPM. So with just adding the '02 LS6 cam, I gained 32.7 RWHP and 14.3 RWTQ.

This is through an automatic, stock manifolds and stock cats, my 18" HRE's, and no dyno tricks. Tomorrow I'm having an off road y-pipe made and I'll be putting my TR ported TB on and re-dynoing tomorrow afternoon. I will post the dyno graphs in a few days (when I have a friend do it for me).

So, my car sounds dead stock, looks dead stock and makes 350+ RWHP through an automatic I am very pleased with the results!

You actually put a little more power down than I did with my 01 Z06 cam on my stock 856 heads, but about the same results. Good luck and have fun with it.

With a few more mods expect to see mid 370s and 350ish on torque. I have seen this done several times. I love the sleeper effect as well. Not to mention you can drive into a GM dealer and they wont have a clue. Im glad ya didnt listen to everyone on here saying it wasnt worth the time. I think its a killer mod for someone wanting ultimate drivability and still make decent power.

Forgive my ignorance, but this sounds to good to be true! If it is, it is exatly what I've been looking for.
I have a 02 WS6 A4, most bolt-ons and a 3000 Midwestern stall with a 2.5 multiplier.
Are you saying that I can simply swap the cam and nothing else, not even reprogramming, and achieve those numbers?
I thought I had read that to use the 02 LS6 cam you needed the hollow valves? Or was that just for 01 LS6's trying to upgrade?
God, I hope so! Those are great numbers for a simple cam swap.
Thanks-

Impressive results. On a recent FLP dyno day there was a stone stock 345hp SS M6 which put down 323hp. There was also an '02 Z06 which did only 353hp, or roughly what you did with the cam change. The Z06 did go a little over 500hp on the second pull with spray, however.

BTW - You say the SLP lid sucked. Which lid? The stock 345 lid or the aftermarket lid?

I think that's very impressive and excellent data. Could you post the graph? I'd just like to see what the curve looks like.

Are you implying a ~30rwhp gain with the only change being an 01 LS6 cam? I remember most of the old threads regarding that, but I never had the chance to see the dyno graph etc proving that it was possible to gain ~30rwhp by switching from a stock cam to the 01 LS6 cam. From what I understand the 02 LS6 cam is a much better cam in everyway and worth at least 10rwhp over an 01 LS6 cam.

I dont have much time to write right now, but.., G-Lock, I was talking about the stock 345 HP SLP lid. With your converter, you wouldnt see the same gains on a dyno with just the cam, but you would see them at the track. The converter will soak up some power as far as a dyno goes.

Joe (JPR), Im looking forward to getting a set of your heads to compliment this setup soon.

There has been no programming done at all yet, I need to at least raise the rev limiter soon. I havent looked at the ATAP log of the runs today yet. I'll post again tomorrow after the off road y-pipe install and dyno. I will post the graphs in a few days when my friend can do it for me.

It sounds dead stock and I will have no problem going to a dealer to get warranty work done on the car, and thas the best part since it only has 1200 miles on it right now. Thanks for all the compliments, and it is a very worthy mod for the price (especially if you install it yourself).

Did you use the stock valve springs? I assume not. What length pushrods are needed? Great results!

I used '02 LS6 valve springs and 7.40" Comp Cams hardened pushrods. Nothing special.

Too bad most guys only pick up 8rwhp with the cam. Probably a dyno error...

Thanks for the info!
The pushrods and springs info is what I was hunting for. I know the 02 cam has a smaller base circle and you either need new rods or to bleed the lifters down.
I only lost 3 hp on the dyno with the stall converter stock so I don't know how much the LS6 cam would eat up on the dyno. Don't care...
The dyno opererator didn't know how to run an A4 with a stall anyway. Everytime he stepped on the gas, the TC would flash to 3800 and the graph would shoot over 500 ft lbs of torque. Pissed me off I couldn't get a good graph from 2000 rpms up...
Sounds like my next "Bolt-on" as I want to hang with what little warranty I have left. Thanks for the info and looking forward to the graph.

Most people pick up 30RWHP (cam only)with a cam like the TR 224.. you did it with a cam half the size... interesting.
Compare your MPH at the track and let us know..

The above dyno #'s are on an A4, so there is slightly more parasitic loss.

I did this same mod soon as I got my hands on that cam about a year ago or so and I picked up 31rwhp on a A4. You can not hear that cam at all either. It is a great cam for a daily driver on a budget. Put a shot on it and roll out. Nice setup and this proves it once again do what you want not what other people want. Good Luck!!!
