Default dynojet dyno's

do they need the weight of the vehicle to get the proper hp and tq #'s right?

I went to a Dynojet last night and they did not ask....

No dyno that I know of has to have the weight of the vehicle to give you a hp#.

No you do not need the wieght of a vehicle for a dynojet dyno. We use one everyday. Now on the other hand, if you are having your car dynoed on a Mustang dyno they do ask for the wieght to put the right calculations in to load the vehicle.

Land & Sea and Super Flow require a vehicle weight for simulating a realistic road load with an absorber. Inertia systems (Dynojet for example) do not because all you are doing is spinning up a drum. I'm not sure about super flow, but the Land & Sea systems even ask for a coefficient of drag to compensate for wind resistance.

Naturally no weight input is needed or can be used on a Dynojet.

I do not want to hijack your thread V8, but just to clear things up if you use a loading dyno...

Using the vehicle weight, hp at 50 mph or aero drag for simulation is just another option on a load type dyno like a Mustang. It is not required like alot of people have been told. You can run the test in controlled accel rate for whatever RPM or MPH/sec to want. If more people would run these dynos on a set accel rate, it would take one more variable out of the process as far as comparing numbers. Dynocar and myself have discussed this on here before.

Vehicle Simulation is excellent when tuning or drivability testing on the dyno. I do use it for that but I use a controlled rate for Power curve testing. So as said earlier you do not HAVE TO have Vehicle weight for a power curve. Just be sure to test the same way every time for accurate results.

You can also run the load dyno's in inertia only if you wish. I do not normally use it like that but it is another option.

ok thanks, another ? is why do they do a correcton factor after the dyno is done then?

the reason they do the correction factor is for weather conditions because in hot humid weather itd be less cold cool air will make more so this puts it all at a set condition and no variences from day to day ot even our to hour

ok thanks, because my #'s were 295 and 325 before correction and they ended up being 282 and 304 thanks for all the replys

here's a dyno showing just what happens on a mustang dyno by changing the weight of the vehicle only. amazing how much power you gain by adding weight to the car.
