Default Is this true?

Many people have told me that dynoing a car is the most abusive thing you can do to it. I have always thought that a dyno run is no more abrasive then a redlining it in the street. Any way, i have about 15 pulls on my car and may have to put a few more. Just wondering if i should reconsider.

Flooring your car is flooring your car...there is actually less load on a dyno, unless it is a Mustang dyno that has the eddy current turned on, which will resemble a street load. No, driving your car around hard all the time isn't the best idea, but that is the risk we all take. I would NOT consider what you are doing to be hard on your car at all. I'm guessing you are doing it to get your tune in line...it would do more damage to have a bad tune than what you are considering.

Just my $.02.

Revving the engine with no load at all is probably one of the worst things to do. At least on a dyno with someone who knows what they're doing, things are a little easier to monitor.
