Default 226/226 guys in here...

Just thought I'd start a thread where 226 guys can chat and share our experiences with this cam.

So what do you guys think of your new cam? I got mine in on the 11th...

What have you dyno'd, if you did, and what mods? If you sprayed, what did it dyno on the bottle? What was your A/F like before with the stock tune? Any KR on the stock tune?

And Number 1: What kind of times are you running, and what was the weather like? What did you run before? If you spray, what did you run on the spray? I may experiment with a 100-125 shot...

Lol I know its a lot to ask, but I dont know if Im going to dyno or not...Im trying to get it tuned by the 22nd because Im moving out of town, so Im trying to hurry up and do that first...if I have some spare time/money I'll dyno and post the graph. Maybe even a before/after if I can get the tuner to the dyno...

Heres my opinion that I posted in another thread: (BTW mine is an XER grind, 226/226 585/585 112 LSA 109 ICL, installed straight up, M6/4.11s car..mods in sig)

It cranked right up and found the idle in less than a minute and I just started it and got out of the car to fill the radiator...no giving it gas to keep it alive, turned the key, pumped it a couple times, and got out. Stock tune and it runs great...died on me twice with the throttle closed, once yesterday and once earlier today pulling in my driveway...I need to drill the TB and it shouldnt do that any more. Working on getting a tune by next week...will update again then...

It pulls strong all the way to 6200 where the rev limiter is now, I have talked to a few people and will prob set it at 6700 or so. Im sure it will keep pulling up there, at 6200 it feels as though there is more.

Hauls ***, and I break my 275/40/17 BFG DRs loose in 1st and 2nd again....before I had to pop the clutch to do that. If I had the stock tires Im sure it would break loose 4th lol.

Also, I just LOVE the way it idles, and has just the right amount of lope. Very driveable, has more power at every rpm, especially up top. A tad bit of cam surge under 1400 rpms with the throttle closed or at like 5-10%, but not always, depends... but I will see if the drilled TB clears that up too...

All around a nice mild cam that I suspect will put out very respectable numbers once I get an LS6 intake and a pulley...

Pulls harder in all gears....even 6th. BTW I have 4.11s so Im sure that helps with the driveability of the cam :p ....
So you guys post you opinions and your good points about the cam, and bad points(if any...lol I dont know what it could be)

Like I said once I tune it & dyno it I'll post more...then take it to the track

Any anyone with input on the differences between this cam and a 224/224 563/563 112 please, do post it....

Thanks

-Chris

Well lemme know how she does!

Before, what headers were you running?

And could you give the 60'?

Thanks man....I hope it does better for me, since I dont have an LS6 intake or heads...really need that intake to make this cam shine

My 60 ft was only 1.89.. which wasnt horrible for drag radials on a m6 but you can see that it would have been better.. it was also on slp longtubes and a gay tune. none the less lower 11's with that setup on slicks was a sure thing. I think it will be a good cam for you, but as soon as you want a little more power you will upgrade it.

Oh yeah I will upgrade later, but Im looking for a good deal on a LQ4 or LQ9 long or short block, depends on the price and the timing...once I get that ready to go in, I may either go all motor and put in a monstor cam, or leave this cam in for a little while and go N20, I dunno...

Yeah if it was a less thn optimal tune, coulda cost some tenths, but those LTs shouldnt have cost more than one tenth...maybe two...

I see low 11s with the right heads and my drivetrain set up to take constant flogging...

Good time, nonetheless...and on radials too...I'd be happy with high 11s after finishing the boltons off and some suspension goodies.. Then comes the N20! Gawd I cant wait it's like Christmas Eve waiting for the next day to open the presents

Do a search and you will find all kinds of stuff on the 226.

[QUOTE]Put in my cam and got the car tuned the other day. The cam is a 226/226 584/584 112, other mods are Lid, descreened MAF, smooth bellows, MAC headers, ORY, and Magnaflow catback.

Untuned it pulled 385hp/366tq.

After 5 more pulls we got 405hp/388tq. I was pleasantly surprised... especially since I was expecting between 370 and 380.[QUOTE]

I checked your thread...

Wow, good numbers untuned & tuned...

Damn, I hope I can pull close to that since I dont have an LS6 intake, but I do have LTs and some other stuff...but Im getting tuned one the street, then dynoing it...so no telling what it will pull ??

Only downside I see to tuning on the street, is I wont be able to see what timing gives the best power for sure...and SOTP aint gonna tell me lol...

Maybe I'll just throw it on the dyno for two pulls for verification and then tweak it afterwards...Dyno day???

Yea, cam is great. Just enough lope, not annoying. No surging stalling and with my heads it pulls to 6800 like its not gonna quit!! The rev limiter say different though!

I thought I have seen around 450whp on other H/C packages like the Patriots package. Is there more tuning to be done?
