Default AFR 205 and TR224 results

First off Im not one of those guys who gets all wrapped up on Dyno numbers. The car runs very strong and before the heads were put on the car was trapping 118 in the 1/4 before the heads.

The car is a 99 vette 6speed with the following mods:
Hallteck tric cold air intake
ls6 intake manifold
FLP long tube headers
no cats
X-pipe
B&B triflow mufflers
3:90 rear
TR224 114LSA
TR 7.4 hardened pushrods
ls1 edit done by Carolina Auto Masters
AFR 205's striaght out the box with stock GM gaskets
tr55 plugs

The only thing changed was the heads
Before 368 rwhp 362rwtq
after 394rwhp 381rwtq

We unbolted the cat back to see how retrictive the exhaust was and made 400rwhp and 385rwtq.

That is one stingy dyno. I'm a little surprised you only picked up 24 rwhp though...especially with you having headers, no cats and a healthy cam. AFRs typically pick up 30-35 on a bone stock motor with stock exhaust and 40+ on a motor with healthy cam and bolt ons. How does it feel seat of the pants? Noticeable?

The numbers are low, but like you say, you don't get hung up on dyno #'s if your track times show you are strong. Its a tuning tool at best.

I haven't hit the track yet, but my dyno numbers are about 410/410 unlocked, and about 426rwhp locked, on a 224 cam.

Congrats...
You are leaving some HP on the table...

-UD pulley
-Ported TB
-Mill heads down (.024 should equal 62cc)
-Are you still using the factory 99 MAF??? If so get 02 ZO6 MAF (requires tuning and wiring conversion, no big deal)

I honestly believe you could get another 20rwhp with the above and another tune....

I think the low lift (.56X) is limiting the potential of the heads.

Seat of the pants is awsome! It feels stronger part throttle down low and def stronger on top.
Honestly this is the 3rd cam that Ive put in it(02ZO6, T1, TR224) and think when I do the underdrive pully I will put yet another cam in it.....I wish I listened to the 1 million people who told me to go bigger from the start. But I do my own work and if I wasnt wrenching on my own car I would be on someone elses.. My ported throttle body will be here Wen and hopefully I will get to the track before I go back over to Iraq (Im in the army and home for 2weeks R&R) I know i could have gotten a little more power milling them and useing the .040 gaskets but I wasnt feeling good about having the company I bought them from mil them and I was really just happy to find that someone had them in stock.
One thing I do find odd is the way the car never really seems to peak it always just flattens out and holds it until it redlines. I initialy thought the exhaust was holding it back but found that it was actually flowing good when we removed it and only gained 7rwhp. But it seems to have always flattened out like this?

Adding the heads gave you quite a big gain in power it seems. While the numbers may not be the highest you have a nice setup that is still able to be upgraded. Ported TB, Pulley, should add another 10-15rwhp. If it were my car I would be pissed however about the crappy A/F ratio. You don't hit below 13.-1 until 5k rpms. From the start of the pull until 4Krpms the ratio is around 14.0-1. Get the AF curve flat to 12.8-1 the entire pull and your lowend and midrange should improve nicely.

Agreed, those heads can use some more cam.

My suggestion:

1) G5x3 cam
2) PP the throttle body
3) Undersized pully

That should get you close to 440 rwhp

I agree with everyone, a pully and TB are 2 important things your leaving out. Get thoes taken care of and im sure youll see 410 plus.
