Default Cutout horsepower gains on stock exhaust

How much horsepower can I expect to gain from a 3" cutout on the I pipe on a stock 98 Z28 exhaust system? Thanks.

I picked up 1mph at the track. from 107 to 108. Not bad for less than $100. Also I like the sound.

you aren't the only one. i gained 11/13 on the dyno after 3000 rpms. here's what happened at the track.

This is with 200 n2o.
distance ---stock ----- cutout
60ft ------ 1.987 ------ 2.074
1/8 ------- 7.902 ------ 7.912
mph ------- 93.20 ------ 93.97
1/4 ------- 12.102 ---- 12.080
mph ------ 117.12 ----- 118.06

on the positive side, the most gain i've seen is .1 in the 1/4 from others. if your looking for power, good luck. if you're looking for real loud exhaust, go for it.

This is an odd quote...because you gained 1 MPH with the cutout open. Also, your ET was better, despite having a tenth slower 60ft. So you probably would have gained .15 to .20 with the same 60ft.
These are typical gains...

just goes to show the torque loss BELOW 3000 rpms you don't see on a dyno.
