new numbers, 12 bolt robbed me good
well back in Feb i dynoed 340 hp and 348 tq
since then i added a ls6 intake ported the TB and a 12 moser bolt w/ 4.10s
and i got dynoed yesterday and did 343hp and 349 tq
i cant wait to get cam done in a month or so
all in all im happy w/ it i cant believe im putting down the track #s tho w/ this hp and tq. it was on a Dynojet

I'd say you are ok, that 12 bolt didn't do too much damage, the LS6 intake won't do much on a stock cammed car, and the TB won't do too much either, so you are doing well, get that cam in and see what it can do!! Track time will be much more enjoyable now

ya, I'd rather have slightly less HP/TQ but be able to use it without hesitation, instead of babying my car off the line, and then trying to make it up with a few more ponies on the back half of the run.

yeah thats n/a SI no spray.
if i had the 10 bolt in there i know it woulda been rite around 360 rwhp
after i hit my goal of a 11.6/7 ill be putting a cam in w/ the upgrade valvetrain.
i use the dyno more for the A/F ratio and tuning not numbers, but thought it was interesting to see what the numbers were compared to my ETs/Traps

118 is a really high trap speed for an N/A car with your horsepower. Sure you werent on N20? maybe it was 108Mph? From your 60ft time its odd you trapped so high. With my mods im only trapping 115-116. Just seemed a little wierd, but what do i know

You still have LOTS left in that car in short times. WOW! I am sure now that your car is SI due to those dyno numbers. Your Ram Air set-up must be killer. And Shifting skills. Get your 60's in the 1.6Xs and you will be DEEP 11s for sure. What RPMs are you shifting at?

He is getting 1.79+ 60's. His MPH is not in his 60' man or his suspension. His power level indicates SI. I think he just has a killer ram air system. The right set-up with fly down the track.

Well Steve A.K.A. MeentSS02, you do not NEED a tune for these mods thanks to the wonderful MAF. A tune helps, but you WILL see a difference from these mods without a tune. SD tuning is not for the novice tuner and is not good for changing environments. Stick with a MAF tune unless you really know your stuff and are willing to make changes every time the weather and climate change.

With the software available today, and with the aid of a wideband O2 sensor, even a novice can do a good SD tune. The issue in my mind is more cost than anything...the tuning software, enhanced interface, and wideband add up to about $1000 or so, plus you need to know how to do some basic wiring on top of that. I don't consider myself anything but a novice tuner...I do have a decent head on my shoulders, and that helps, but with enough basic reading on this forum, I think damn near anyone could reproduce my tune that I run on my daily driven SS.
As for the changing environment part...well, since the IAT and MAP values are factored in to the calculations, the changing weather really isn't a factor. I haven't changed my tune since I tuned it in 90+ degree weather, and it has gotten down to the 30s on a couple of occassions here lately. Still runs like a champ...
At the very least, the VE and MAF cals most likely aren't in agreement with those two mods...when they don't agree, the car just doesn't play nice with itself.

I am not saying he won't benefit from a tune, just that he does not need a tune to see gains.
I know it is not going to fall on it's face when the temp changes 5* on a SD tune, but you will get more out of it when it is tuned in the existing environment than a totally different one. The MAF compensates for this more than the MAP and IAT. I am no expert on the matter and have no SD tune experience. Just makes sense and this is also what I have read.
I hear nothing but good things about an SD tune when it is done right and plan to throw the idea around myself. Better idle, throttle response and power. But once the MAF and VE are calibrated, they seem to need less tweaking for most power in any environment versus SD. Three sensors are going to be more accurate than two. Also I know it is not that difficult to SD tune since you need to do an SD tune to calibrate VE anyhow. Just seems to me it needs more maintenance than MAF tune. Next year I will play around with SD and see how I like it. My comment was more of a question rather than a challenge I guess.

Eh, it's healthy to have a little disagreement from time to time...SD tuning takes me about an hour to adjust, and it never needs much adjusting when I do. I might even tackle recaling the MAF one of these days, but that would take even longer. I'm a lazy SOB sometimes

Of course. I like to stir the pot once in a while to make sure people know what they are saying. Your sig made me do it. LOL. I am even more lazy. I plugged someone elses MAF table into mine. LOL. Works great though. Better responce and idle and she went down the track faster too.
