Default Which Comp Cam will make more HP and TQ a 224/224 or a 231/237?

What Comp Cam makes a better combo with a Vig 3200 stall a 224/224 or a 231/237?
I want something that will add more power and at the same time be able to be used on the highway for a little roll racing.

I am ready to go ahead and get a cam package. I feel the need to put more power in the car since it is need of some.
I have been doing a search for the proper cam and converter set up for a while now and since I only drive my car on the weekends I guess I want a little more power than what a 224 comp cam offers. Or do you guys think other wise? What else do you recommend that would be more efficient and give me some decent power, acceleration and work good with Headers, Exhaust bolt ons, pulley, FLT stage 3 tranny and Vigilante 3200 stall.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thank You Much

Robert

For roll racing, the 231/237 will make more peak power.

Default Mti R1

I just had my C5/M6 dyno'ed at ECS yesterday. 420 RWHP/358 Torque.

Mods are:

MT! R1 Cam (232/236 575/578 114), 243 heads, LS6 intake, ported/polished throttle body, Dynamaxx headers, Corsa Catback, UD Pulley, 4:10 rear & LS7 clutch.

Car idles at 900 rpm, shakes a little, and pulls from 3500 like crazy.

I'm very happy with the cam.

Are the 243 heads ported or are they stock?

Why is the torque so low?

My Comp 230/236 made 407rwhp on a Mustang Dyno, 433rwhp with dynojet correction factor for comparisons. (393 Mustang and 419 Dynojet weather corrected)

Going back to the original post, which specified a cam for a 'lil bit of roll racing, my 231/237 used to trap 118mph on stock heads, full weight and stock wheel. It was, however, the Lunati lobed TSP grind, which has a lobe which comes online at high rpm.

My car mod for mod had a better time slip than a "better Headed (new TEA's stage 1.5him vs old GTP's stage 2me) and my tr224 vs his 231/237 with him having the suspension advantage, and 30 more peak horses(430him vs 405me) with the SAME driver 11.54 vs 11.96's it's more about times than it is power.

area under the curve wins races not peak power.

224 cam all the way. that is a proven cam.

Peak power wins roll racing.

And I used to drag 224 cams all the time with my TSP 231/237.
When I would launch at 5K rpm, I'd be at my power band all the time.

Default Low Torque?

I don't know why it's so low. It seems to pull like a madman above 3500 rpm. I've noticed that other cars have similar power with higher torque readings.

I do have a 4:10 in the car and I've been told that this will lower your readings.

When they dyno'ed the car it was still pulling at 6700 rpm's. The heads were cleaned up by a local head shop.

With the 3200 stall and some 3.73's go with the 231/237. You set, that stall and gear setup will put you right in the power band from a dig and roll.
