expected gains with Patriot heads?
Thursday some friends and i are going to be installing a set of new patriot stg 2 heads 243 castings milled.025 on my 98 T/A. I am hoping for 40 rwhp, does this sound about right?Current best time at the track is 12.08 at 112 mph, do you think i should be hitting 115-116?I hope i am not dissapointed being that i currently have the worst ls heads out there...The car will be tuned also after the head install. Thanks for any input.

ok let me rephrase that, the best time the car has ran is 12.08 with current setup with previous owner driving. Just wondering if anyone has installed these heads that had 98 heads and their gains.

cool, if that was with stock 243 castings from your '04 i would think i would gain more than 43 rwhp going from my 98 heads, i just dont know the difference in hp from 98 heads and 04 stock heads.

not enough to matter at the track...my buddies car 98 had 241s swapped on when his cam was done...it trapped the same as my 98 with the 806s...similar cams similar setups...id look for more along the lines of 25rwhp..

Thanks WWS699, i am hoping for results like yours, dyno numbers really dont mean anything to me, it will just be more fun to beat higher dyno number cars at the track...

just courious what you guys think my dyno numbers will be? I just started it up for the first time after the head install and it sounds a little meaner going from 10:1 compression to 11.2:1. i still need to heat cycle it once more and get it tuned tomorrow. I will then see if there is much noticable power gain...I am planing a dyno trip within the next couple weeks to fine tune the tune, luckily the guy i bought the car from is a good tuner and is hooking me up.

well, i guess people can talk **** about Patriot heads all they want but i feel a noticable difference with the ones i just installed. With the compression increase and better flow the mid range power is much better and instead of ******* out at about 80 mph, it just keeps pulling. I am definally happy with my setup now. i would bet atleast a 40 rwhp gain. I will be dynoing the car within the next couple weeks and will post up the graph.Even though i dont have before numbers.

All i am saying is after hearing a few people bitch about Patriot Heads performance, i am very happy with the results. I did replace my lifters, knock sensors, injectors, and oil pressure sensor just to freshin up a 122K motor and was quite impressed with the feel this new set up gave me and am sure i will be well in the 11's. The mid range power is quite impressive and i feel this combo is well worth the money i spent on it, maybe $1700 or so. I will be sure to post up track times, dyno times to be objective, but i know the seat of the pants feeling is better and that is a good indicator.

i hope my car runs as good as yours, i did get in a liitle street action with a c6 tonight , with him jumping me by 1/2 a car on the start by 100 mph i was 3/4 to a car up and pulling and i raped a ford lightning by about 4 cars in the same type run. it has been around 100 deg here lately, so i am hoping it cools down a little before i take it to the track.thanks
