I was wondering which of the most powerful american super cars would win in a 1/4 mile and 0-180mph race between the GT500 725hp Super Snake and the 638hp ZR1 Corvette?
I believe the Super Snake is faster in the 1/4 137mph trap speeds to the Zr1's 130mph. Which would win the 0-180

I have to believe the ZR1 is faster from 0 to 180mph.
These are two cars that really shouldn't be compared to each other since they differ so greatly. BUT...that's what Ford & GM guys do.
The ZR1 doesn't have the trap speed, but it could definitely out ET the GT500.
Keep in mind that Evan Smith cracked off 10.80's on a tire in the Super Snake.
That same tire on a ZR1 would easily produce 10's.
IT would be a suprise if the ZR1 wouldn't be faster to 180. It weighs what 3200lbs to the Snakes 4000ish, is MUCH more aerodynamic as well. I think it would be close but once you get past 130-140, the weight and aero advantage of the ZR1 would start to take hold.
What is the gearing of both? That would have a big effect too.

137mph traps? From a Mustang that weighs more than 2 tons, with aero engineering done by a bricklayer, and has an advertised 725hp? Source?
The track.
Evan Smith did it for a Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords article.
He's a ringer so call it 11.0 @ 135 for the rest of the world.
Still, that's damned impressive for a 4,000lb pony car.
weight has less and less to do with how fast a car is the more speed you gather.
the veyron does 252mph and its almost 4300lbs
eh, kinda. the veyron could only do ~230 with all the power and then they had to rework the aero to get the extra 20mph. weight plays more of a factor the faster you go. i forgot the exact wording, but it takes a certain amount of more hp to move a car as speed/drag increases.

No it does not. Aerodynamics do. It takes more power to push a car through the air as speeds increase and the aerodynamic properties of each car.

On paper this seems like a good race. I'd love to see this happen but unless i hit the lotto or the two get together and its filmed i'll probably never see it. With the 87hp advantage I thought it'd be a good race. The rear ratio on a Super Snake is 3.73's.
I really hope they find a way to get the weight down on the next line of Mustangs. 4200lbs is not a pony car. A baby hippo maybe!

of being 2nd to the super snake in horsepower of the big 3.

I'm putting my stack on the ZR1. I mean, people have managed similar times from "lowly" Z06ers.
Traps though... Thing's an animal.
Here's something I found interesting.. The 'Vette's swinging a 100,000 mile warranty, yes? If you want to retain that in the Snake, step down to 600 rated horses and 590ftlbs. Not a ricer argument, but an observation.
Are the super snakes the one that have like 12-15 "super snake" emblems on them? If so....I hope everyone hits a tree since those things are hideous and I can't read super snake the first 3 times on the car

I figured it would be them, but after checking their site I came up with nothing. It should take over 800rwhp to push that car to that trap speed. Smith has piloted numerous 600+rwhp cars to only low 120s, and they were a few hundred pounds lighter.
Edit: found the article. Impressive, but they were quite a bit shy of 137.

power to weight favors the vette in every area...tune them and it would prolly get worse for the supersized snake
