I building a 98 5.7 now for the car in my sig, Im wondering what it will make? I(and racer friends) was thinking a 5.3 with a cam(ideas welcomed) to get the TQ up and rpm range up. I'm looking for 325rwhp 335rwtq, which i can't go over those levels per class rules for my weight.

The bolton's for both motors will be ....

ls6 intake
Mac headers(low ride height)
Tune
6sp car with 3.73

I've been doing research here and i think the 5.7 will be very close.

What do you think each motor will make?

that post is more than a little confusing, are you building a 5.3 or a ls1. the 5.3 will be down on power and torque compared to the ls1. those mods will get you right around your goal maybe over with the ls1. with the 5.3 you might want to slip a small cam in maybe a gm hotcam or something similar

Sorry about that, you are correct though. I have and ls1 waiting to go in the car now, with the few hp upgrades that i posted.

I'm not finding to much info on a cammed 5.3 with a 6spd, so i'm kinda wondering what hp/tq levels would be with that setup?

before getting into f-bodies i had a few chevy trucks with 5.3's. most guys were picking up around 40hp or so from a decent cam. with full bolt ons and cam you will see mid 300's at the wheels. from my experience anyway. but that was through an auto. if you want alot of info on the 5.3 go to ls1truck.com
