1000cc honda intercepter vs third gen guy i know has a 1000cc honda intercepter (1988) and he wants to race.
Ive got an 88 trans am gta, ls1, t56 9" traps about 112 in the quarter. I believe he isnt very expirienced at riding since he just got it. what can a stock one do in the quarter?

His bike is heavy and about as fast as a new 600cc. Probably has around 110rwhp but weighs ALOT- 600lbs wet I'd assume, with lots of low end grunt but not much up top. His bike with a good rider would pull a high 10second in the upper 120's.
However, if I were you I would race him from a dig to maybe 80mph. The average rider on a new-to-him bike will launch crappy and be playing chase on you. "Run him and find out".
I've ridden quite a few of those year 1000 Interceptors: heavy with soft suspension, they were meant as more as a touring bike than a true sport bike.

Have to race to find out, just because it's rated at 120hp new doesn't mean it's putting out anything near that 22 years later. Bad carbs/slipping clutch/worn rings/bad valve adjustment/etc, you could still take him.

They were rated around 120-125bhp so 110 at the wheel would be about right. But he would have to be a REALLY shitty rider to get beat up to 80, bikes run fast because they are quick up to speed not because they keep pulling. Unless he doesn't hit the throttle you won't beat him to 80. I could see you taking him off the line for a short bit with a bad rider, but by 80 he should have easily got around you.
