Default SRK 5th Gen

Well... On Sunday my 5th gen after some spirited driving decided to poop on the trans. Let's just say the car moves but when you shift it sounds like death.

Now on to this post... I thought to myself might as well re do the whole thing because I have been getting the itch for more power... Nothing extreme like my V but I think a 800-1200whp 5th gen would be fun.

I want this car to be "made" (don't worry I'll be spending my money since you guys are too ******* poor anyway) by you guys here on SRK.

I'll leave this up for a few days and we through whatever you guys recommend to do I will keep updating posts and we can vote on it. Example, an LSX 427, LQ9, LS7, cam 1, cam 2, cam 3, turbo, supercharger 6l90, 4l80...whatever.

The only thing I want to do though is keep the car around 4 digit whp on kill mode and I don't want to spend a lot of money. I have been looking around at junkyard builds and they seem fun but I'm too lazy to research a lot so through this voting **** hopefully you guys aren't all complete trolls and won't vote to put in a i4 ecoboost or some ****.

Let's see what you guys can come up with. I fully expect this to go nowhere knowing you guys on SRK but hell it's worth a try and it would be pretty fun to have an "SRK" built car.

I would do an LQ9 based 408ci, boosted specd cam, T88mm turbo with a 4L80. With this power you'd need new 1200hp axles, and a dss 9" rearend and I would recommend doing 15" conversion on it by BMR and drop so serious weight. And a badass fuel system.

This is pretty much the setup I'm going to go with when I save enough. My goals are to hit 1100rwhp but put it on a crazy diet.

Stroked LQ4/LQ9 408 or just use an SBE LQ4 or SBE 5.3 if you wanna stay cheap, single turbo, E85...... And a 150shot on top. Yeah, that sounds like fun to me lol.

Orrrrrrrrr, get a junkyard 5.3/6.0 and put a couple kits of nitrous on it and see how much it'll take hahaha.

Edit: Forgot you said this is going in a 5th Gen Camaro. Forget what I said about 5.3/6.0 nitrous. Won't make enough power. Stroked & boosted LQ4/LQ9 based 408 for sure.

Not true. I don't see why an LS3 couldn't live into the 1250whp range without too much issue. Has to have a spot on tune at that power level anyways...

You could also go to ERL about a bad *** aluminum 6-bolt sleeved block, that could easily hold the power...

Ive got to second this (and maybe some nitrous for kill mode?). It probably wont be near 4 digits, but if you put the car on a diet with a high revving 427 it would be a lot of fun!

Cheap build then.
LQ9
S480
4L80e
E85
I spend way to much damn time in the FI section, so I've seen about a hundred of them. You don't need to spend 15k on a motor. Just get a junkyard LQ9/4, clean her up and add some ARP rod bolts while your at it. Get a good cam, Martin at Tick or lil john ext... With a good tune it will go for a good while, e85 makes it easier.

1. buy 10 gallons of gas. 5 gallons just ain't enough fer dat huge bitch.
2. pour all over and inside the fif gen, don't miss the gauges on the front of the console.
3. throw lit match on it and burn it to the ground for the insurance money.
4. use insurance money to buy the super-duper light weight sis gen.
5. add 3 mods
6. beat every rustang on the planet and run 9s.

You are welcome.
