Default What should I expect

My first real ls build wondering what I should expect.
Ai ported 243
Btr stage 4 cam
1 3/4 long tubes into 3" Y
Btr .660 springs with titanium locks
Morel drop in lifters
Ls6 intake
4000 stall
Built 4l60e (everything except the new planetarium)

Any ideas what my rwhp should be? Or how high I should be able to spin it?
Thanks just don't want to get my hopes up to much

Depends on the dyno but maybe around 440 rwhp with that setup

I would spin it to at least 7k. That set up is begging for 1 7/8 headers and a FAST intake! Keep us updated OP

Yea it started as a mild build until I kept finding deals on parts. Everything should be here and installed in time for one run down the track. it will get a fast soon as one shows up cheap enough.

Should be a stout running car. Keep us posted on how it does at the track.

Will the stock rod bolts hold up to that kind of piston speed? Haven't gotten around to upgrading them as i don't wanna drop the kmember twice

Unless you are willing to have the rods checked with the new ARP fasteners to ensure they are still round and don't need any resizing I would recommend leaving the factory bolts alone. Some people get away with just simply swapping the bolts, and some don't. I wouldn't recommend swapping the bolts unless you're going to do it the correct way.

Mine did, for over 70,000 miles. How many times I shifted at 7200rpm, I never counted. Lots. Heavy car also, 3700 lbs with me in, and plus passengers many times. 99 LS1, untouched factory short motor except for a new ls6 oil pump and rollmaster billet double timing chain.

Me personally I would leave it alone and not risk egging the rods by fitting ARP's. but that's just me. My current ls1 in my 4th gen is the same deal factory short motor but cam only and im shifting at 7000. If it breaks i'll let you know.

The stock GM bolts may be weak if they've been reused several times, but to me they seem plenty strong as they come on a factory built engine that hasn't been touched by anyone since to support under 600hp and under 7500rpm.

I've seen quite a few modified ls1's spin bearings from lack of oiling or a blocked oil filter which has no bypass valve inside, rather than breaking a rod bolt or connecting rod.

I'm hoping for 450 would be fairly pleased considering I just got the car running again beginning of summer. Stock to 450 would be good for a few months work. Heads are going out Tuesday for porting, intake is otw, and just picked up some fast 36#. Everything else is already here the wait is killing me lol. Ordering some Lca relocation brackets and a torque arm. Think all I have left is to find the cash for some wheels/tires.

Got LCA relocation brackets installed. Grabbed some c7 z06 rims with nittos all the way around 275 555s up front and 315 555r for the back heads should be here Wednesday so might start tearing down today. Unfortunately my pcm let go a few days ago and won't kick on the fuel pump, so now I'm running with a toggle switch. But that gave me an excuse to put in a new racetronix 255 and hotwire since I originally thought I fried the pump. Anyone have experience with the BTR stage 4 cam wanting to try a .40 head gasket to bring my compression up a little but don't know about flycutting especially with motor in car.

Default Done

Well parts wait is over a few people asked for updates so here we are. Made a custom y pipe dual 3 into 4 and added a new style "ls6" valley cover. Got everything assembled today swapped in new pcm with startup tune it came up and has 60 psi oil. Damn thing won't idle though every time I let off it chokes out to 500 rpm and dies. Idle screw was already maxed out so no dice there. But the car does sound nasty when I hold it at about 900 can't wait to get a tuner on it and see what it'll do last track day is this weekend so crossing my fingers

Had a loose coil pack connection finally got her going. Go to top off fluids and warm up. Starter snapped off and took part of my block with it. Guess this threads over won't be able to repair/replace this year
