Newly Built Engine - What HP/FtLb will it make?
Hi Guys,
I'm from the UK and of course we are much less versed in LS engine builds than in the US so I'm asking for opinions to see what you think my new engine might make when it eventually goes on the Dyno.
The guy who built the engine is being a bit non-committal in estimating what he thinks it will make as he's not built an LS engine with this combination of parts before so I don't think he wants to commit to some numbers. However, it's been quite a financial investment for me and I'm curious as to what you guys think it will make. The engine and transmission is currently being fitted to the car so it's a couple of months away from going on a Dyno and curiosity is getting the better of me!
The engine comprises:
LQ4 block
L92 heads (gas flowed and CC'd)
Steel Crankshaft and Con Rods (Eagle) stroker kit to give 6.6L
Forged flat top Pistons (Mahle)
10.9 CR
LS3 Cam. .551" intake / .522" exhaust, Duration (@.050 in): 204° intake / 211° exhaust
Roller Rockers
Fuel Injection
FAST intake manifold
FAST 39lb LS3 style injectors
Jenvey 90mm Throttle Body
MSD Coil Packs
OMEX 710 LS3 ECU (I'm thinking of changing this)
ARP bolts throughout
I've tried to attach the full parts list as one of the photos, hopefully it comes out!
So what do you think the numbers will be? When it eventually goes on a Dyno I can update with real figures :-)
Cheers,
Steven

You basically have a 402 stroker with L92 heads and a FAST intake. Fairly common setup. You haven't mentioned which camshaft you will be using, that will play a HUGE role.

Oops, I forgot to add that, according to the part no. it's a std. LS3
.551" intake / .522" exhaust
Camshaft Duration (@.050 in): 204° intake / 211° exhaust
Engine builder also said it would have 10.9 CR

Should make a little more hp then a stock cam 6.2L and a good bit more tq. With an LS3 I've done 400whp on a dynojet with the stock cam and 435whp on a mustang dyno with a baby cam 22x/22x with the normal boltons. Going to a 416 stroker jumped those numbers up quite a bit, closer to 500whp but I used a much bigger cam.
For the money I would increase cam size at least a little, you have a FAST intake so get something that will at least hold the power band out far enough to use it. When I installed a FAST intake the big gains were between 6-7k rpm.

So it looks like a new Cam would be best to make the most of the other parts.
Would anyone have a make & p/n or lift/duration recommendations for me to look into?
