Slowhawk will tune LT1 BUT........

LT1 Edit cost $$$$$ 3000 per car year

92,93,94,95,96,97

18,000 for him to buy for the 2-3 LT1 that might come though his door...

BUT

You can buy a single use for your car and then he will tune your car with it...

I don't know but if I'm going to bother asking advise i'd listen to it...
I didnt go there the same day I went there a few weeks ago. I am just looking for input on these two shops in particular because these are the only 2 I could find. I am taking everyone's advise I just need to formulate everyone's thoughts to suite what I am looking to do. Plus no one has worked on a G8 before and I am trying to find the most competent person. Ive met the guys up in sterling but Ive heard that they have blown a few engines on the dyno, not ones they have built but ones that people brought in and had them tune. I bet one of them is probably that kid above me that was talking about his friends VR4. Anyways guys I do appreciate you suggestions and am taking into consideration everything I've read so far. Keep all your thoughts coming in!

Don is the man to take it to. Look at all the ls cars that run in this area, they all run fast and were tuned or built by him. Also he has a new z06 in his shop being built along with multiple other corvette's/turbo/supercharged ls vehicles......i think he can handle a header install and tune on a g8.

Don't let him scare you off. He does great work in a timely manner and at a fair price. By my estimation he may be one of the best LSx tuners in the country. (No, Don, I'm not looking for a favor lol.)

ive known don for over a few years now and the work is top notch, no BS no hidden "extras" very very straight forward person with questions and answers. he has the knowledge, the touch and the experince that no matter where you look his customers will all say the same . if you ever heard the saying youve tried the rest now come to the best. this is a prime example

as for headers step away from SLP please. there not really all there cracked up to be

american racing or kooks and youll make more power and be happier

Thats two good choices. The ARH's like a work of art. The quality is second to none.

I've been to ESP in Clinton a couple times for dyno days and whatnot. They seem like a good group. They have done a few builds including a LS1 Miata. But they cater more towards the import crowd from what I have seen. Subi's, Mitsu's, BMW, etc.

They might do a good job for you, but I can tell you this Slowhawk WILL do a good job. He's been in the LSx game since they first came out. Has enough experience building and tuning them that he's probably one of the top few on the East coast with this kind of knowledge. You can feel safe leaving your car with him, it's in good hands. Just tell him what you want and drop it off.

He's tuned/built just about every possible combination you can think of, from street car to race car to bridging the gap, FI, NA, N20, power glide, 6 speed, whatever...Not to mention it's not just a dyno tune you get but the time is taken to make sure everything is optimal on the street and not just at WOT.

If you give him a shot you won't regret it, he takes care of his clientele during and after. Slowhawk guys put 110% into everything they do. Plus the new shop is awesome.

Come by and check the shop out. I've known Don for almost 10 years now (Boy time sure flies!!) He's always been upfront, honest and 2nd to none when it comes to working on cars.

He's very detailed oriented, and a perfectionist when it comes to getting the work done. He's built and tuned a both of my cars perfectly! You won't be disappointed. Trust me man!

Default Just the best.....

I got into the F-body LS-1 game back in 1999. Slowhawk had my 2nd LS-1, a pretty much stock, A4, '02 T-topped coupe, w/just a 3200 stall, OR pipes w/stock manifolds, good tires, a little rear suspension work, and his custom tune, running low 12.20's in 70 deg. and less temps regularly at 3550 raceweight.....He is simply, The Man, when it comes to the LS-type cars if you're on the Eastern seaboard. Honest, straightfoward, competitively priced (for sure), w/out any bullshit. His experience and results say it all. WJ

Oh why not another vote for Don....he's gone above and beyond for me on numerous occasions.

Everything from tuning my cam only car with no stall on a Friday night at 8 P.M. lol...installing headers @ 6 P.M. one night....etc. etc.

I like the fact he's upfront about things...not afraid to tell you your being a dope lol...heck he told me the Hot Cam makes crappy power and that I'll want a bigger cam soon right before my tune with him...guess who was right Rather have someone be honest with me than just agree to get business.

I know how much him and Nick ENJOYED doing my cutouts but what I took away from this install and others he's done is that he CARES, no half assing ****...if it's not working he will work on it until it's right. Can't say enough good things about him.
