I used to be a manager of a barbecue place, can't get more American than that. Delicious Cheesy macaroni is very important as it was our best selling side by far. Pulled pork sandwiches are always yummy and easy to serve. Wings in various sauces are a great seller and people love wings. The favorite thing we served was something called "Loaded Nachos" Tortilla cut up into nacho triangles, fried, then topped with pulled pork or pulled chicken. Customer had choice of chili or bbq beans, then a huge pile of cheese, then onions, jalepenos and sour cream with a sweet barbecue sauce drizzled on the top.

Serve some fried pickles. Cut them so they look like surfboards...long/flat and serve them with various salad dressings.

I don't know what your target market is, but I'd pay close attention to make sure you have GOOD burgers. Every place has burgers, but most just see them as another menu item. There is a huge difference between a regular burger and a good burger. They're an American staple, and made correctly they will bring people in from all over.

You haven't mentioned your target patrons, but it's a good idea to consider getting a liquor license if you can afford to do so. When I'm dining with friends (when I spend the most $$$) I often base my vote on where to eat on what they have on tap. Have at least one designated tap for beer you can't find most other places. I'd rather pay $5 for a microbrew than $3.50 or $4 for a Bud. Then again I must be a minority since most places seem to have pisswater on tap.

Maybe something different. Chip-wiches perhaps? I second the deep-fried pickles.

Two different Ideas, Either have them from top to bottom Best are the Zo6 Editions of the Base motors, Or pair them off how they were made Ones with all the extras on it are the Zo6 motors and the regular ones are the base Ls series of those Gens.
And well You just have to have the Lt1 the Little burger shots.... All in fun Lt guys

LS9 Full Pound Of meat, with all the extras on it
Ls7 (Ls7 Burger Half Pound Burger with all the extras
Ls6(or LS2)Burger Half Pound with maybe Ketchup,Cheese Pickles
Ls3 (or Ls6)Burger Quarter Pound With all the extras
Ls2 (Or Ls1)Burger Quarter Pound With ketchup cheese pickles
Ls1 (or Ls3)Burger Angus meat, with Fried Onions, A1 Sauce and mushrooms
Lt1 Burger Like the Burger Shots from Burger King or The original White castle burgers
O ya and have a Top Fuel ***CU In. Burger (what ever size the top fuels run)
3 Pound burger with a One Pound Bun, and EVERYTHING AND LOTS OF IT.... If you finish it you get a picture on the wall

Who would not want to just order these just for the names its just

Only thing with the philly steak is that in the area you are, it is gonna have to be really REALLY good to sell, just becasue the local's probably know how it should be.

Honestly, I would drive around the area where you are gonna open a place, try everything they have and write down everything on every menu you see, make sure that you have something that the parton's of those places will like, and make sure you have some original offerings that noone else is doing, making your offerings a differet choice, and just try to keep the items that you sell that are on other people's menu's better then the competition.

And if a family of 4 can walk in and eat a comparable meal for 5 or 10 bucks less, then I guarintee that you will have a good customer base rather quickly, since $ these days seems to be an item of contention for everyone.

I hated pickles until i had fried pickles, now i put pickles fried or not on everything and actually enjoy eating them alone. Possibly the best idea ever. And is extremely cost effective.

Serve breakfast all the time. There's an Irish place near here and they do a huge business this way. It's mostly typical American style breakfasts but they also have some nice black and white puddings.

Plus the local Bickfords and Pancake houses all seem to be closing one by one.

Good luck with your endeavor!
