Default Cable company

I now need a cable box to watch any good chanel on tv. Yes i'm a cheap **** and only have one box in the house downstairs. Is there any way around this (illegal)? The channels have a blue screen with the words "you must have a digital cable box to view this chanel".

You could do something like this connected to your one existing cable box. The only drawback would be that you couldn't watch two different things at once. Whatever one TV is watching, the other one would display as well.

Otherwise, I am unaware of any way to "hack" around that blocking.
