thanks Don (slowhawk)
thanks Don for getting the car tuned at least so its correct and seems to run good. Now once I can get to the track and see if the low *** #'s actually run harder than they say.. I know the converter is sucking up a ton, I can just tell. Anyway thanks again, and I'll let you know when you guys should come down for a day off of food and relaxing
lastly, I can't believe you let Nick cuddle up with you on that tiny couch..

ok fixed it . LOL
the new one.. put headers stall, cam .. but its only 360hp.. but heck my 02 first time around on a dynojet only did 370hp and ran 11.7s so??? who knows. We think the stall is skewing the #'s bigtime.. it feels like a low 12, high 11 car we'll see, maybe a few weeks.

Who knows if it stall is eating the numbers. It's a new tranny, motor, IRS so we dont know exactly how the numbers are going to look for this new car in the future on the dyno. I'm sure in the near future we'll know what numbers these new cars are going to make like we understand the f-bodies.
From a few video clips, articles and word of mouth it seems with the newer cars; even with the added bit of weight and the moderate power numbers, these new cars are running quicker than the f-bodies did with the same power and less weight.
(I only say moderate power numbers because if a car is advertised at 420 hp and it dyno's less than 415 rwhp some people go wacky).
Maybe the power is delivered in a more efficent manner; I dont know but I'll put 20 bucks a beer that your new SS with 360 rwhp will run better than your LS1 with 370 rwhp. I shouldnt open the can of worms but it'll probably run like the LS1 did at 390 rwhp (yea yea yea the flame suit is being zipped up).

Well the L99 is going to have more cubes of course and much better heads. Most stockish car's at the track trap a couple mph over the ls1 4th gen. I am sure the added torque of the motor helps propel the few hundred lbs of extra weight.
I'm sure Don probably locked the converter on the dyno so the converter should not be sucking up the numbers, IRS and 20" tires is more likely. Plus on these 6 speed autos I am sure there must be a hit on dyno numbers.
I still think it will run low 12's all day, and look good doing it.

we think the converter was NOT locked, I am going to go through efi live and see if I can tell if it would lock in WOT in 4th, we didn't try to lock it.
I think I am the first to dyno a 5th gen with a converter... others have run higher #'s with headers alone!! that's what makes me think the converter is sucking up a bunch of power.. that's why we will know with track #'s.... until then everyone will be like you have a cam etc.. and only 363hp.. that sucks.. well it may or it may not if it turns an 11.x

Hooking up......
My questions are: Is there a 20" drag tire available for the stock whls yet, and is anyone making a 20" lighter-than-stock drag whl yet, and finally, do you have to run a 20" whl for brake clearance on these cars? W/that converter you must blow the tires off the car pretty much at will, no? Best wishes Dan. WJ

Good luck. I can't wait to see what it pulls for track times. Auto's have never been Dyno queens. The track is where they shine.
Joe, you are just smoking crack. I don't think the new camaro's are running the same #'s or quicker stock for stock as the 4th gens. Time will tell.

Warren.. yup.... got em in today.. hahahahaa Nitto.
I think you need at least 19" wheels to clear the brakes. I hope these will work.
yeah Dave, I think the 2010 times range 12.9 to 13.8 on average from good to bad weather and drivers. I would say the average is slower than the 4th gens, but come fall, I think the 5th gen 6 speed manual will be fastest 100% stock to 100% stock 4th gen.

Nice, we should all get a rental going and get up to the track for some runs. I am not going to be able to go to the hot rod drags in NC so i'll have some vaca time to eat up come fall. Maybe a mid Sept. rental when the air gets nice?
