Leaded race gas going away.....
Recently read on another site that Canadian govt. voting soon to ban all leaded fuels starting Jan. 2010. W/Mr. President's latest green theories, don't be surprised if US is right behind Canada, meaning any here who use high octane leaded race fuels will have to make major adjustments. Some Ethynol/Unleaded gasoline combos are claiming 104 octane, but that's not enough for most drag track racecars and some here. Back in '91-92, the NHRA pulled out of thier only National event in Canada, The Molson Nationals, at Sanair, a great facility just a short distance from New England in Quebec Province. This was caused by leaded fuel squabbles. Stay tuned. WJ

You can buy 110 leaded at the sunoco station on the berlin turnpike here in CT. But, seems like that stuff is hit or miss on wether it's any good, which is why I don't even bother. Up to this point I could have gotten away with it but the supply is somewhat questionable.
Leaded race fuel, should it go away, is going to do 1 of 2 things, either kill motorsports as a whole, or is going to make the aftermarket an unreal amount of $ as everything will have to change so much that people are going to be spending millions to try to get the performance back. Or, as I would assume, there will be a massive jump to Methanol as fuel.

That will definately pick up yes... but methanol will be where it's at.
say bye bye to fuel injected race cars though, as the guys that are already running 16 injectors with race cars will have to put 24 injectors on, not all of them, but I can see that at the upper level and now you're running out of room on the damn intake for all that That, plus the guys that are getting away with 1 set are now going to have to go to 2, and the cost vs going back to a carb is gonna hurt the EFI. Either that, or there will be some huge move forward in technology with injectors and what they can flow. Dunno.

what percentage of cars at the track are actually using leaded gas? its pretty small. just the pros and the very very serious hobbyists. and even those hobbyists are only going to go through as much race gas in an entire season as the average commuter will go through in a week or two.
its like how MA stopped doing emissions testing on pre OBD-II vehicles... the cost to even worry about it outweighs the benefit of regulating the small percentage of vehicles that fall into that category.

I've never seen those... but being in the turbo world you guys deal with that end of things alot more.
Cool that they're made, but I can't imagine how a car would run/idle with those. I'd like to see a map of the duty cycle that those are used on, and some spec's (engine size, FI type/size, rpm, CI, power level) that they're used on.
I can see that injector being a 2ndary injector once the boost comes in on a BIG power car, stuff that's in the 2500 hp range... not sure what else they would be for.

I don't see it as that big of a deal. The race gas manufacturers will just learn to adjust with the time, and the racers will do the same.... Remember back when they said that computers and fuel injection would ruin aftermarket performance cars??? Look at us now.
Nascar has already moved over to un-leaded, and they are doing fine. The key to success in anything is adapting to change. If you can't or are unvilling to, you're done.
