Default Skinnies on the way. Which tire?

Ordered some Bogarts RT bolt ons for the front. What should i get for tires? And where should I get them? Who can install them without screwing up the rims?

People have different recommondations based on useage and race weight. Some have gone as light as a Moroso DS-3 but if the car is stock weight you may need more. I plan on still having a tire that has a radial tread, so if it went on the street with that, it would not be an issue. I have never seen people screw a front rim.

Thanks fo rthe info. When I said bolt on i was referring to the hub being bolted to the rim, not bead locks.

Oh IC, makes sense lol. M/T makes a skinnie tire for street, I forget the size, as mine are in a shed and I cannot get to them.

I like M&H's front tires. They are light and have very good tread pattern.

It depends on whether you're running a radial or a bias ply rear tire. If it's a drag radial car my recommendation is the M&H Racemaster radial tire. I run a set on my full weight car and it drives great. Plenty of tread and I've had them in the water as well. I actually daily drive the car with that tire.

I run the MT ET Drag fronts. Which is what SJM recommended.

Steve from SJM mentioned these two tires by M/T:

MTT-3007 MT ET Drag ~11-12lbs non DOT
MTT-1573 MT Sportsman pro ~19-20lbs DOT approved.

I also see the M&H ROD02 - M&H Racemaster Radial Drag Race Tire
Tire Size 185/75-15
Tire Construction Radial
Tire Diameter (in) 26.00 in.
DOT-Approved Yes

I wonder how much the M&H radial weighs. And is it ok to drive through the water box with any of these three tires?

These are what I run, rain or shine and never any problems.

I ran the drag tires for a while, but they wore out too soon on the street for me. So I moved to these.

If you are going to street drive the car, do not get an et front or a moroso tire, they will not hold up to street use, m/t sportsman is a good choice as well as the m&h.

Drag only car, if it's under 3400 the et front, if it's 3200 or less moroso ds2. Ds2 is a lighter tire, but again, with less weight there's less material.

Even a drag setup... if the car is 3500 or more I'd run the 4 ply sportsman tire, just to be safe.

Thanks for the comments. JL is it ok at most tracks to drive through the water with the heavily treaded tires like the M/T sportsman and the M&H radial?

Being a skinny tire I think so yes, backing into the water if you so choose never hurts, just more of a pita.

I never noticed any inconsistant results from using the m/t sportsman tire on the front that was water related. Just make sure when you do your burnout, you get the tires going goo, flip the line lock off and power thru the forst 30 feet out of the box. That way if the tires did track some water up you spun thru it.

I leaning toward getting the M&H radials or the M/T Sportsmans since there's a good chance I'll get lazy and drive on the street with them, plus the car is pretty much full weight.

FWIW the guy at Summit said the M&H radial weighs 19 pounds.
